Suggestions to make Hardcore Gaming experience.

Recommended Posts

I bought DayZ standalone a couple days ago and impressed with the concept.

There are a few things that I think would make my gaming experience a lot better.

1. Allow more players per server.

Currently, it allows only 40 people per server, so getting into firefights would be a lot more exciting then just running around.

2. Log off timer

I have no modivation to be held hostage or kidnapped simply because I can log off to avoid it.

3. Some form of ranking or being able to track survival time/zombies killed/players killed.

This allows people to further set goals for themselves.

4. Provide more motivation to avoid dying.

Make skills that require experience to increase. Also, make the best gear extremely difficult to obtain. Making this game as hard core as possible gives me that heart racing feeling when you get into serious shit.

5. Add different types of zombies or environmental difficulties.

Adding different zombies that are super strong or fast would be awesome. Also making environments such as snow/desert that require different gear would be cool.

6. Don't allow people to mod this game.

It is already a modification, and I would rather it turn into a MMO then just a complete sandbox game. Granted that people liked games such as minecraft, but they are doomed when people finally realize that it is extremely repetitive and lacks all difficultly. Cheating in a game just destroys a game.

Overall, making the game hard, and allowing the player to have a lot of really fun things to do will keep me in it. I know it's still Alpha but right now I have max gear and supplys, and can't even find anyone to kill so standing around gets pretty boring. I hope good things are to come.

The number of players may increase, some testing servers have 127 slots.

6. Why the hell?

I don't have to play the mods someone's making, so I really just don't care if they mod or not.

Uhhmmm. Are you talking about DayZ or the mod? People should mod it if they want to, it isn't a mod itself.

He is talking about the SA, because this is the section.

I can just repeat: It's like if you restrict modding the elder scrolls. Sure there are gamebreaking crappy mods. But you don't have to install them and can play vanilla, if you think this is better ;)

Btw. the devs should know, that modable games last longer. And the longer a game lasts the longer you can live from it, right ;)?

3. Some form of ranking or being able to track survival time/zombies killed/players killed.

Survival time has been nicely suggested here and i strongly support it:

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/163066-name-of-the-game-survival/

as for kill stats i dont think that would fit, since its about surival and not killing primarly, with it it would become even more like a FPS like BF and COD...

Yeah!

This guy Dean Hall did some modding a while back.  Ban all modding!!

Turned out pretty horrible aswell.

Then they made a game based on the mod! Ha.

1. Allow more players per server.

disputable, but this game is not about shooting like COD,BF, CS or other, it is survival sim, people should be rare and dangerous

2. Log off timer

agreed

also it would be great to have a timer for server swap, or unic database for each server. Server hoppers are one of the main gameplay killers.

3. Some form of ranking or being able to track survival time/zombies killed/players killed.

disagree. What rank, in real life, you have right now? :) (Except you are not millitary)

survival timer and diary were implemented already in mod, I think it's question of time to add this feature in SA

4. Provide more motivation to avoid dying.

Skills never will be added to this game, according to Rocket posts.

maybe steam offgame achivements will be satisfying pixel-reward for people, who want to show, how awesome they are :)

5. Add different types of zombies or environmental difficulties.

Different types of zombies are not related with DAYZ lore. It's not some kind of mutation, it is a virus.

(Information from Rocket's early posts)

Weather and seasons will be added at the late states of development, i suppose.

6. Don't allow people to mod this game.

There a lot of good modification of DAYZmod, if you are talking about it.

I don't like almost all of them, but huge amount of players are disagree with me.

I think modding are good way to invent new types of gameplay.

Someone from BIS, or maybe Rocket by him self, said that Battlefield would "kill" ARMA if they give community a chance to modding this game.

Overall, making the game hard, and allowing the player to have a lot of really fun things to do will keep me in it. I know it's still Alpha but right now I have max gear and supplys, and can't even find anyone to kill so standing around gets pretty boring. I hope good things are to come.

Most part of your suggestions is not about making sim more hardcore.

In my opinion, adding stamina it's the one of the ways to make game more difficult. It will give you the sence that it's a huge county and you need a transport to travel. You can not sprint 15 kilometers without a rest. You can run realy fast for 15-25 seconds and then your speed decreasing to a minimum and you need to rest or walk for some time.

Also you cannot eat 5 cans of tuna/pasta/beans especially dry rice.

Making simple things more difficult will make surviving the main objective of the gameplay, like it was in first days of DAYZ SA. Alot of people died because of hunger, thirsty and disease.

P.S. sorry for my english :)
