New playstyle: Stalking strangers

Recommended Posts

After respawning, looting and dieing over and over again, DayZ became quite boring to me so I decided to change the way I'm playing this game: When I spawn, I try to find a Mosin and some ammo as fast as possible. After that I immediately head north to a bigger city, where many people are coming by (e.g. Stary Sobor). I camp outside the city and wait for another player to appear. When I spot someone, I try stalking them for a while without being discovered. I just watch them going through the city, looting the houses, fighting the zeds. It's very hard to follow somebody without being seen. And of course you always have to watch your own back, too. When it seems like the target feels too safe, I put out my Mosin and shoot him into his legs or at least in his direction. I don't kill them. It's just hilarious how they get scared and start running away :D  Sometimes I also try to imitate the sound of a zed to confuse them. Ah and I'm also taking all the can openers I can find :D When I'm tired of stalking others I will go to the coast and drop all the can openers in some village. I think it will be funny for a freshspawn finding 20 can openers at one place  ;)

Now I'm wondering whether there is anyone who plays like this, too? What do you think about this playstyle? Maybe it's a little bit weird. And, If anyone of you has been shot into his legs today near Stary Sobor, I'm sorry.  ^_^

I love tracking other players, you can learn alot, and it makes a good test of your ability to hide, hoping that you yourself are not infact being tracked!!!

Sounds like you might be getting bored of this game rather quickly. But the point of this game is to play it however you see fit, and to survive by all means, good job sir. Now if I ever find you I will shoot you in your legs, handcuff you, and force feed you disinfectant spray,

Trollin is an art, Sir. Bravo!

How is this trollin?

Stalking requires great skills, indeed. Looks like you have been enjoy being a "STALKER". I sort of don't like stalking, not because it's not good to sacrifice your own objective, but for the danger stalking brings. I figured the biggest enemy when stalking is zombies, you may be detected from distance away, and your plan is pretty much ruined if the player being stalked is at least cautious.

This sounds very fun to do.

I've done it a few times, usually running parralel with them in the treeline, but usually get spotted. If they play like me, I am constantly moving my head while running. Challenging but fun.

I made a post in the gallery section where I took a photo of some guys through my scope. Come to find out several other people do this same type of game play. Was going to make a thread for everyone to share. It is very fun indeed.

Edit. Here is the thread I made for it. Join in fellow stalker of men.

This is how I play, I find it interesting that the player has no idea they are being watched. Occasionally they seem to look around as if to spot me, maybe they can feel I'm out there but the thrill is not being detected. I never kill or harm them but it would be so easy.

I try to stalk some guys, to see how they behave. If they're douchebags, i shoot them, otherwise i leave them alone.

I suck at following sometimes though. I once saw a guy on the sniper hill at Elektro, who turned around and ran over the tree covered hill, in the general direction of Berezino. I ran uphill to try and follow him, but once i reached the top, he was nowhere to be seen. I searched the forest for a while, but never found him.

I would like to stalk players, but not for the same reasons. If a guy looked like he was heading somewhere with purpose (e.g to meet someone) I'd rather stalk him than Shoot on sight. He might meet a player with even more/better gear, then there's more to loot. Wanna try this tonight.
