Combat Logging is essentially Logging out when in combat to a avoid being killed,

 

Never heard of ghosting though :P

Ghosting = logging out, changing servers, moving to a better location and logging back into the original server(people use this to get behind people safely)

Combat Logging = quitting the game when you were about to die to avoid losing your stuff

KOS = Kill on Sight (the mentality that someone shoots you no matter what)

Friendly Dance = using the lean left and right keys to wave back and forth to show you are a friend

Loot Cycling = looting everything, even trash, so that better loot will respawn in its place(currently disabled in SA)

SA = StandAlone

Mod = DayZ Mod, a mod for Arma 2 that is the father of the Standalone

Hive = the database for all the characters, can be public or private (private means your character only exists on specific servers)

Bandit = someone who likes to kill players

Hero = someone who likes to help players

BB = Blood Bag, restores health

Ghosting = logging out, changing servers, going behind someone, changing back to the first server, and shooting them in the back. So, cheating.

 

Dinner Bell = weapon that isn't particularly good, and very loud; attracts more zombies than it can kill. Lee Enfield in the mod, Mosin Nagant in the Stand Alone.

Chernogorsk (Cherno) = my favorite city, lots of great places to loot + lots of bandits/server hoppers to kill. Not recommended to enter if you can't handle dying.

Elektrozavodsk (Elektro) = my not-so-favorite city. A lot like Cherno. No great places to snipe from that I like.

I can't believe after about two hours of chilling on the hill and watching I have seen at least 15 people log in here and loot then log out across the way. Bunch of sorry losers can't play or search for gear like a regular player, and then you shoot at them and they disappear. Fucking outrageous amount of pussies are in this game. Whats the point in even putting your sorry ass in front of the keyboard. You hide from everyone to get the best gear and run and hide the first sight of danger. Have fun when someone with half the amount of skill and twice the balls robs you blind of your crappy gear which you acquired through being a complete vagina. Enjoy dying when someone sees you because you lack combat skills. Do your self a favor and let play another game because I'm only going to ruin your day.

 

FYI anyone that knows ANYTHING about Dayz can get geared in a matter of 20 minutes. Besides i get better sh!t every spawn anyways. THE BEST PART IS STARTING OVER.

Why don't you camp a bunk bed room in the airfeild and KOS? The game is in alpha so it's good this stuff is happening now so the devs have a chance to fix while the game is in devoplment.h

For such a rant you do have a great point though! "THE BEST PART IS STARTING OVER"

 

This is actually true. As the game is in its Alpha, you really cant expect to keep your gear for a long time anyway. For me the fun starts after I find your first well. And usually it ends when I have geared up. Sure, you can try to bandit\hero, but that is really  timeconsuming. You find maybe 1 person every 30 minutes. I find the game more exciting when in the beginning and middle. You find some bullets and a gun, but they dont match, so you keep looking, and you always have to be mindful of the Z's and other players. I don't exactly start cheering out loud when I fall from death, or get KoS by a bandit, but start over with something of a grin :) It's also a great way to learn the map without having to check the interwebz every 2 minutes.

 

That being said, I have no respect for people that's using questionable methods like ghosting, server hopping to get gear or combat logging. I would never combat log. Hell, I don't even like it when people use 3rd person for looking over walls and around corners. I mean come on! We play this game for the "immersion and realism", and people use 3rd person view for the glitch. Even youtubers like devildog and rhinocrunch does this. Where's the fun in that? 3rd person should be used for 2 reasons only: 1. to check out your character - 2. To avoid getting motion sickness (turn down head bobbing and you should be fine though).

i think the starting over part is the best part of the alpha, i havent met anyone, i got killed a few times, so what, you lose your gear next time you get it faster since you know what to look for, i got KoS once and didn't even see the guy just herd him going through my things after i was dead, i figure im gonna try the bandit route see how that pans out, if you cant find the joy in its simplicity then this game might not be for you, i knew exactly what to expect when i got this game, there are a ton of things planed in the near future, but for now im just focusing on learning the map and shooting. 8 hours in and loved every second of it.

What did they do in the mod to prevent combat logging? Having the ability to log out at any time seems pretty crucial in a game in case the real world unexpectedly imposes on you (as it seems wont to do).
