5.56 Ammo peculiarities (may generalize)

Recommended Posts

I don't know what is common knowledge and what has been reported.  I have been "collecting" (amazing how much I find left in tents and hangars) 5.56 ammo the last few days and I am noticing these occurences:

1) emptying a mag on ground having a full pack, destroys the ammo (or possibly it does not show up immediately; I don't hang around)

2) empty a mag in inventory/pack has a chance of making the ammo disappear

2a) sometimes the ammo will reappear if you drop the empty mag

2b) it has a better chance to disappear if you have no inventory space to empty the rounds into although iirc it will still occasionally drop to the ground

3) if you empty a 40 round mag, the ammo will stack to 40.  if you combine ammo it only stacks to 30.  (I have more than 300 rounds in a 300 round box, because I have exploited this to have stacks of 40 in the box, I should try it with a coupled mag to see if it stacks to 60, but I have never thrown a coupled mag away which would have resulted in me "testing" it)

3a) exception to this is if you have a partial stack in your inventory it might break the stack of 40 up and therefore add to the partial stack to 30 and make a new partial stack with the remaining rounds

1) Most likely a bug, i've encounted this on Badly Damaged and ruined Mags.

2) Yes, nearly all of the time my ammo falls out of my inventory through the floor.

Don't know anything about anything else but i know they is bugs with mags for sure, but i've found loads of ammo under beds which is unneeded, i need to drop food most of the time for it. and when you need ammo, you never can find it LOL

I know, I've lost SO many ammo because of these bugs. All we can do is wait for beta

You can also have 60 round stacks if you use the coupled mags and empty them.

Again, this is alpha and you'll see glitches when combining/emptying items. They're being worked on.

The same "exploit" has worked for me with 60 round mags, although I haven't tried to fill an ammo can like this.

I have not had any issues, other than lag, preventing me from seeing loose ammo dropped on the ground. Items normally all end up on the ground eventually though sometimes items fall through the floor, in which I only noticed by being in a two story building. So now, every time an item never appears, I tend to assume it fell into the ground/floor.

Within my inventory, provided I have the space, it has worked 100% from my experiences. It always drops in the upper, first available slot.

I seem to be unable to empty my boxed ammo or ammo loaded into magazines if my inventory is full.

This is all, of course, only in my personal experience, which may not reflect every possible scenario.

It has been my experience that, if I want ammo from a clip, the only way to MAKE SURE to get it, is to first pick up the clip.  Then, make sure you have one extra slot of inventory.  Empty it.  Then drop the clip.  It seems like almost every time (90% of the time) if I empty a clip while it's on the ground, the ammo is lost.

Emptying any ammo container (box or magazine), while having full inventory, will make the ammo dissappear. I haven´t seen a single occasion where i could´ve rerieved the ammo in any feasible way (i did wait it out, and tried just about everything i could think of to make it reappear, i´ve done this all multiple times).

If emptying something while it´s in inventory and inventory is full, the ammo most often drops on the ground, sooner or later...usualy later.
