Basic Beginners Information to help you along your travels.

Recommended Posts

Firstly, i set up this friend to help players who wouldn't necessarily know their entire way around the map and this is to help them

They is 2 things you really need and that's a Map, and a brain, which everyone has!

http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus This is the map i'm currently using, this tells you where supplies are and good places, the map is in an early version.

To help you along your travels, firstly open that map up i linked, once opening up, find where you are, if your on the coast, to head to Cherno/Elektro or Balota have the Ocean facing your LEFT side, that means your heading to a near by town, Which is either Solnichniy, Kambiwobo, Elektrozavodsk and ofcourse, Chernogorsk, depending where you spawn, you can head up or down or even to the airfield, my average route is along the coast to Elektro, to Cherno and then to balota Airfield  then up to the NWairfield.

The first step you should do is find where you are and where you want to arrive at, and if you spawn on the coast, remember the main town is down the road with the ocean on the LEFT side, this tip has helped me loads to arrivate at places i want.

The second step is choose a route which is healthy and reliable, include a few water fountains and places to get supplies along your way this is an big benefit and helps your survive a lot longer, another tip is, when on water fountains wait until it says Your Full when drinking water, don't drink much more after that or you'll get sick.

Once you've arrived at your destination, i wish you good luck with your loot finding and i hope this guide helped you to find where you are.

-SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND MORE WILL BE ADDED-

Please throw some beans if i helped you.

Edit:

I do not expect you to run straight for the main cities where people Snipe and they are tons of bandits, even though i haven't encounter many myself, i'd still actually recommend you still going to the major cities as i have't en-counted any bandits their to be honest, but i do not force you to believe me, everyone survives differently, i do advise you heading inland as said below  and finding a meele weapon (Axe most-likely)  some food, water and a backpack, i'm really sorry for the inconveniance

P.S I didn't make this thread due to deaths, loot, i made it to help new beginners find their way around the map, not to help them die, if you'd like to ask question or stuck, please post a question and i'll answer it to help you on your travels.

Are you actually suggesting that beginners head to either Cherno, Elektro or Belota airstrip first thing????

All those places are just ripe with bandits, as a beginner, prio one is, find some water, find some food, find a melee weapon, head inlands! There are a couple of military bases up north that seldom see any people, since most of them seem to be centered around Belota or the other airfields.

I dont suggest to move their, but if they want to move to a main town to find some loot, which some might do as instead of the littler towns i'm just helping them to know the way, meanwhile i did suggest to  follow a route which is healthy and reliable, include a few water fountains and places to get supplies along your way this is an big benefit and helps your survive a lot longer, another tip is, when on water fountains wait until it says Your Full when drinking water, don't drink much more after that or you'll get sick. This is a really good benefit following one of these route, i do not in tend you to instantly head to a main town, but i'm just helping you setting you off on your journey in DayZ, actually, my first journey was to Balota Airfield, and i saw no bandits, with over 80 hours in play time i've encounted 1 bandit their. I do understand what you are saying and i would also head inlands

You are correct, but I can't help hating you because of your completely idiotic and offensive name and avatar.

There are a lot of great guides already.

Here's my two cents:

First: Water lots of it until your stomach says it's full. Pumps are shown on the map, you should head directly to the closest one after you spawn.

Second: Food, do nothing but run inland after drinking and search for food. Run inland for at least ten minutes real world time. Do nothing but search for food and eat for the first two hours of play time. Each time your stomach empties, which is relatively quickly, eat more food. This will build up the larger reserve of "energy" which you can store a ton of. Once VERY well fed, do what you want and make sure to hit up fountains every 50 minutes of game time or so.
