[Suggestion] Quality of gear having adverse effects on your player

Recommended Posts

So.. last night I found an Acog that was "damaged" carried that son-of-a-bitch for 3 hours... finally found an M4 and proceeded to attach the site. However when I went to ADS the glass was shattered. Well played DayZ.. well played..

Also .. as a friend and I logged in and saw it was night time we complained about it being so dark we could barely see.. though as we ran blindly towards the military base we knew was down the road, and the moon rose a bit higher in the sky. I then realized that it was noticeably brighter. Again.. well played DayZ.

Anyway, I digress.

I came here to address the broken Acog site. I think that ALL items in this game should have effects based on their durability. Maybe things like:

- Boots damaged - run speed slower due to blistering, cold feet.

- Backpack damaged (Or anything with "slots") chance to loose items randomly as a result of running too much.

Thats all I can think about off the top of my head right now. But you get the point.

Oh! also .. I remember saying this last night.. I would be bad ass if when you put sunglasses on you got a dimming effect in game, and maybe lens flare from the sun was a bit milder!

That alone would be enough for me right now :P

1: Semi-Confirmed

2: Said Possible during a livestream.

3: People say this actually happens, Not sure.

I believe some of this is planned, at least the boot stuff.

I'd like to be able to get swampass from running in too hot good quality trousers in the sun. You'd make a little rubbery squeaky noise.

This would add a whole new layer of tactical play to the game.

Man1: "Gotta make a run across the airfield John, we have no cover, gotta be fast"

Man2: "Alright Benny give me a minute to change from these camo trousers into my hotpants, gotta do this right, military style"

*fistbump*

Re:sun glasses - Rocket said that their was resistance to this within BIS (god knows why).

I'd actually really like to know....

But yeah, as far as I knew, all of these features are more or less confirmed by the team.

Rather than a random chance to lose an item when your item gets damaged, how about when it hits the 'ruined' state all the contents start spilling onto the floor. Have the ability to repair it with tape or rope as a temporary fix to get it back up to 'badly damaged', so you can pick up all your stuff and go looking for a new pack, or pants or whatever.

It would be really cool to get into a fight with some zombies and have all your gear start falling onto the ground as they ruin pieces of your gear. Or find a trail of dropped items, which ultimately lead to a hoard of zombies around a dead body. Even make it so the zombies tear your gear off when they're "feeding" on you or your dead body.

I guess another option would be something as simple as damaged gear loosing some "slots"

ie: Pristine backpack with 30 slots, Badly damaged only has 15.. and so forth.

Yeah i made a thread like this once about gear becoming damaged and losing gear like it falling out if you dont repair with a sewing kit or such so i love these ideas and i guess it would be easier to just make it lose slots lol  Also JTHM for the win man :)
