Rushthezeppelin 8 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Currently when using a pistol you use the teacup and saucer grip. While this did used to be a valid grip back in WWII, the mechanics of pistol shooting has progressed ALOT since then. The only people who still use this grip are cops in cop shows and movies (if they aren't just doing one handed hitting people in the head from 100yds ). The accepted grip nowdays is what is called the Thumbs Forward Pistol Grip. There are a few variations on it:From the traditional: To the agressive: Variation used for revolvers: The advantage to this is it supports the gun on both sides and makes the recoil more straight up, thus making it easier to get back on target for subsequent shots. Handguns have a tendency to recoil towards where they are not supported which with the teacup grip would be on the left side (for right handers). Sorry as a competition pistol shooter IRL it kind irks me when firearms falsehoods are perpetuated. Granted this isn't a huge deal but still a bit of a pet peeve that I would love to see get fixed Edited January 8, 2014 by Rushthezeppelin
Rufert 146 Posted January 8, 2014 This is all well and good but as I see it not all survivors in dayz have a military background, and would just hold the guns however since they don't have any training.
stielhandgranate 480 Posted January 8, 2014 I agree. I also hate the chickenwing stance with rifles and pistols.

You do have a bit of a point. Thanks to TV/Hollywood most people when first picking up a pistol tend to do the teacup and saucer technique. Still if they are going to keep it this grip type then accuracy and follow up shot speed should suffer as a result.

I've watched more Assy McGee than cop shows, if you google that you should get an idea of how I'd hold a gun if I got ahold of one.
dallas 5195 Posted January 8, 2014 Probably the same reason why DayZ doesn't use ArmA 3's urban prone animations. Too advanced for the average civilian survivor. Maybe you could select your animation style in the character setup: Military, civilian or O.G.

Ohhh gee I don't know Assy Shut up Sanchez I would like to see somebody hold a gun like Assy without the use of the force  Probably the same reason why DayZ doesn't use ArmA 3's urban prone animations. I would laugh my ass off if I ever saw somebody in dayz doing the OG grip on their gat lol. Reminds me of this funny little gag
