GpB311 236 Posted January 7, 2014 For the last two days I cant find a backpack of any sort. Ive checked several small towns while heading North, all around in Elektro during my first visit there last night, and I also checked some buildings on the edge of Cherno before somehow teleporting off a roof, floating there momentarily like Wile E Coyote, then falling to my death.During my first few days of playing, I always cam across something to store my stuff in, but now Im struggling to find anything along those lines and can barely hold anything.is this due to an update or am I just not looking in the right places? TedZ 424 Posted January 7, 2014 Try going on low population servers, once reaching Elektro, loot the firestation, hospital, school and then head to Cherno, loot around their and head to the Balota airfield meanwhile looting gas stations on the way, by then, i normally have an backpack and normally in the bunkers in airfield i find a huntiing backpack. Maybe your bad luck
DoctorWrongpipes 31 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Try the construction sites (Berezino and East of Solnichny). Surprisingly good chance of Taloon, Hunter and Mountain backpacks there, sir. Also, much less dangerous than heading to murderer central :)Good luck. Edited January 7, 2014 by DoctorWrongpipes

If I can't find one that's where I head.
Element47 2480 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) the factory at Polana seems to have produced backpacks before the apocalypse. found 5 mountain backpacks there, plus a number of taloon packs Soconded, the construction site at Berezino and East of Solnichny have been dubbed Back Pack City for me. If I can't find one that's where I head. east of Solnichny would be the Polana factory? maybe we think of the same site :D Edited January 7, 2014 by e47
Kocot 35 Posted January 7, 2014 You're usually able to nick one from any small town really. If you're struggling to find one I'd suggest hopping to a low population server then nicking it off there. That being said, it can bring about bad habits and people who do server hop for gear are generally disliked. So don't go to the NWAF/Balota/Any military structure and server hop to loot. Because no. The easiest place to find them are construction/industrial type buildings.
Ranadaine 35 Posted January 7, 2014 Factory between Polana and Orlovets is crazy. Got 7 backpacks there yesterday (5-25,1-35,1-30), around 3-5 of 25's and a couple of 35's + a fireaxe today. Any residental area not scavenged dry also usually results in at least one 25.
GpB311 236 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Sounds like its time to start checking out the East side of the map and more construction sites...So far Ive stuck largely to the West and generally North of where I spawn. Edited January 7, 2014 by GpB311
kegaro2 20 Posted January 7, 2014 Whenever I visit any of the airports or military bases there seem to be packs laying all over the place...
xoligy 8 Posted January 7, 2014 Died last night been playing for an hour or so today seen 4/5 backpacks 30-40 players on server, even met a guy that was friendly but then again we both had nothing really well, ok i had a greenrain coat, shovel, hat, sunnys and most importantly a CAN OPENER!!!! haha Now though im just trying to stay alive had a run in with about 8 zombies during my play and they are always a pain to get rid of specially when they walk though everything and line of sight does not matter. CrocoDan 19 Posted January 7, 2014 well I see them in random houses a lot, but anyway according to this wiki page: DayZ Standalone: Construction Site The Construction Site in Berezino has a good chance of spawning them. I think actually I was there the other day and there were like three backpacks there lol
Slite 7 Posted January 9, 2014 Find an unlooted village with a pub, there is almost always at least a talon bp in the pub (Middle room with the entrance to the loos)

Dr.Blomquist 27 Posted January 9, 2014 That's a bit off topic, but I am experimenting to survive WITHOUT a backpack. What do you really need to carry on? I would say: a can-opener, saline bags, a canteen, bandages and some ammo. Plus alcohol to clean wounds.Ever thought about that? The medical shit can be added to a first-aid-kit (just put saline bags and bandages in it, dump the rest), ammo can be stuffed inside west/pants/jacket. Can-opener, alcohol and compass... should be enough space left to storage it. Keeping in mind that you should eat every peace of food that you find right away, keeps your demand for inventory-space pretty low. Advantages are: you spoil every bandits looting fun, your prone-signature will improve... just a thought.
Leo Balzac 190 Posted January 9, 2014 There's always one in the restaurant in Msta, usually just a short jaunt North and slightly to the East from most spawns. That or the NE air field.

But maybe somebody else will thank you for it - they usually do so with a bullet ;)With sun, stars and a fair idea of the general map you may also skip the compass. If you have no specific destination, it doesn't even matter which direction you go. As long as there is a road in sight, you may eventually come to the next village or town. (okay, there are some dead-end roads, but going those back should then bring you to bigger roads and ex-civilization).
