Player keeps getting reset

So I'm just trying to make heads or tails of this player reset situation. 

 

In the last week or so, my player has been reset about 3 times.  I'll just join a server and suddenly it's back to the default player.  Even if I quit that server and join a different one, it keeps me on the new character that was just made.  Then after a few hours of playing with that one, I'll join a server and it will reset me again.  This is extremely frustrating as I put about 4-5 hours into each character by the time it happened.  

 

Am I doing something wrong?  Is there a workaround or way to avoid this?  Is anyone else experiencing this?

It's a known issue and quite well documented.

 

While you're at it and on the forums - welcome by the way - take your time and read them.
