Just got the game, don't really know how to play. anyone want to help me out?

Well, first you should know where you are ingame. Start by finding a road and follow it to a town, then check it against a map like the one at dayzdb (do a google search).

It's always best if you can find a well to drink from as you start off thirsty.

You'll want to get inland and avoid the coast and kill on sight players that farm on new spawns.

If you are near Mogilevka, I could help you a bit, I'm on a new character since my old one was mysteriously wiped without dying. It's alpha! ^^

There's a number of guides available on the forums, most of which are hodge podge or specifically relate to a certain aspect of the game.

 

I wrote a Survivor's Guide specifically as a walkthrough/starting point for new players. (link in my sig)

 

You can also find a number of different tutorials on youtube.

 

A little trial and error never hurts either, just familiarize yourself with the controls, get a mic/headset and expect to be killed but don't take it too seriously.

When your following the road, don't walk on it, walk in the forest with the road in sight

As a semi New player I can give you a few tips to ponder on:

 

1. Do not begin your playing on Night time severs(start on Daytime till your comfy)

2. As soon as you spawn on beach..run like hell to anywhere other than there.

3. Make sure when you go to a drinking well..spam the hell out of the well...it takes more than you would think to get rid of the "thirsty" status.

4. Find a melee weapon yesteday...people and zombies come at you without caution. Zombies stay aggro for a long ass time. Best weapon is the Fireman or any kind of axe. Its a one hit kill on zombies to the head.

5. DO NOT worry about looking "good" if you find a rain coat put it on...some dirty hunter pants..put it on...sometimes it takes a while to find a back pack. You will need the pockets to hold important things like cans of food and fruit.

6. Do not run along roads. Use the trees or something but stay within the framework of the direction your are traveling.

7. Have fun with it, there are a lot things that will piss you off but, just keep in mind that its an alpha and one day you will be playing the true game and you look back an laugh at some of the outrageous shit that happens...like "zombie rabbits"
