[Theoretically speaking]

 

If I found a decent hiding place on the map and stashed a load of goodies there for later use, would they still be there after a server reset?

No The items reset after every server restart. They will no longer be there

Kind of glad for this at the moment...  As soon as tents or storage devices that persist through server restarts are added in the amount of loot hoarding and banditry will skyrocket.

Hopefully before they add tents they will fix loot respawns. They kind of forced server hopping on themselves w/ it not respawning until they server restarts.
