Missing, important feature - Log off delay/Abort timer

Recommended Posts

So here's the story.

Me and my friends were heading to Balota, I went on ahead to scout. My 2 friends got killed from behind and their bodies were just after the tents, I could kinda see one of them from Balota while zeroed in with the mosin high zoom. The guy goes up to my friend as expected and starts to loot him. I'm prone, zeroed right in on his head and I shoot... the shot goes slightly too high. So I quickly reajust and fire again but he insta-quits just after I fire and the shot doesn't count.

I think the Abort timer needs to get re-added to DayZ so people can't just quit out like that. It's unfair that people can just get the drop on someone kill them then instaquit before they can be retaliated against.

Now now stop being so negative. Yes the issue has been raised before, during the mod there was such a fix but you need to know this is only an alpha and they are still working on things like this, they are well aware of it and it may be brought into the beta if not start worrying and start posting.

I agree with the abort timer but I also have a counter point to make.

Were you using an external comms program like teamspeak/skype? isn't it unfair that you could talk to your friends from probably well over 100m away? If you weren't using such programs, would you KNOW it was your friends who were shot?

I would never condone combat logging. It's just funny to see people using one exploits to their advantage while complaining about another. ;)

I can taste the sarcasm there.

But really, I'm just giving feedback based on my experiences with DayZ standalone as they occur. If they have been reported before, great! If it is a re-report? so what? I'd rather post something and have it be a repost than not report something and it overlooked.

Use the search function before you post. This discussion is popular and re-posting it is nothing but an annoyance. >.>

And yes, abort timers are a good idea but you can never say for 100% certainty if someone's game crashed or not.

In what way are using voicecoms to talk to friends in a game exploiting? Do people consider using TS in CSS to tell their team that they just got killed at x spot exploiting? No, so why should it be any different here. Voicecomms are, and will always be, a part of Day-Z, how else are you supposed to co-ordinate with friends and group up?

Sounds like elite-roleplaying-grognard-speak to me.

Ooh I ruffled some feathers. I use them as well but it doesn't change the facts.

It IS an expliot. It goes around the designed game mechanics. You don't need it to play the game and it gives you an advantage. If you can't see that, I have nothing else to say.

If you want to roleplay it just carry a radio around with you, and have your friends carry one 2 then it won't be an exploit if your over 100m away from them. ULTRA MEGA ROLE PLAYING MANIAC

Although I completely agree with DR here.

Usually I choose to either quit before the fight actually starts or fight until death, before the abort timer, it's still something personal to decide.

You give yourself too much credit.

Like I said, Grognard.
