Could someone from the Dayz team please answer me this?

Recommended Posts

I don't know much about game development, ect, but I have to ask this cos it's really annyoing me not knowing.

How high on the priority list/when will the following be fixed:

Combat logging. 30 second log out delay, losing all your stuff if you alt+f4, ect.

The unbearable lag you get at times.

fps optimization. I'm assuming we won't have to deal with 14 fps in open fields on low settings (which happens at times on my really expensive rig) when the game's finished.

I'm not complaining, I know it's alpha, ect, I'd just like some sort of answer on when these 3 key things will be adressed properly

The sensible answer here is:

When they get done. There's a lot of stuff to add to the game, and these are all known issues (and have been since closed testing). I'm not attacking you when I say this, but if they're really bugging you that much, perhaps you're better coming back in a few months when things are a little further along the road, because while I can't speak for the devs (and know even less about game development than you do), I imagine they'll probably want to get a stable build together and then start adding features - no point optimising a bunch of stuff and then adding in something else that's going to be horribly optimised. Might as well get it all in there and at least vaguely playable and then work on fixing it as a complete package. You know how it is with patches and adding stuff - every bug you fix creates four more. :p

That's actually what I posted this to find out. These issues are the ones I see as the most serious ones and I just want to know if they plan on fixing these first and then move on to adding features, ect, or if features are priority and then they will fix this afterwards.

Losing all stuff no.

Sometimes game crash or internet goes out and losing stuff for this is bullshit.

Player should spawn dummy when he not wait for timer to log out. Dummy itself should despawn after  ~2minutes.

Well, obviously again I can't speak for the devs, so giving any indication either way is going to be nothing more than my personal opinion, which won't help you answer your question much.

However, as I said, these are all issues that the devs are aware of and have said they're 'working on'. I seem to recall them saying somewhere that they have a plan for combat logging, but just haven't implemented it yet - to be honest, I would imagine that's very low priority right now. The lag issue over the past couple of days was a DDoS attack, I believe, and the 'rubberbanding' problem was just one of those bugs that pops up in patches sometimes (and I think they've more or less fixed already). Optimization is going to be an ongoing thing, and it'll improve slowly and gradually over time - we're not just going to wake up one morning and suddenly find that we're running 60FPS in Cherno.

who fault is it they are getting ddos?

if people could have their private hives they can host it at a site with ddos protection

Good to know. Thanks man!

So meanwhile the players who have private hives are fine and the rest of us are screwed.

-or-

We can let the Devs do what they think is best and implement their own DDoS protection that helps everyone.

It only takes placing the servers behind a load balancer with DDoS protection (like a BigIP or A10).

Just be patient.
