Just Glitch or More Green Mountain Stories?

I was with a friend who is new to the game, and I thought it would be cool to go to Green Mountain. We both were decked out with customized M4s and plenty of military hardware. We quickly dispatch the few zombies that resided there and loot the two story building. Of course we had go to the top of the tower. I made it to the top, but while he is climbing the ladder, he stopped to change his video settings. When he returned to the game, he was met with the "You are dead" screen and was forced to re-spawn. I saw his body at the base of the ladder and told him I would wait for him to get back and help him navigate. I go and close the gate to make sure if someone came in I would see the opened gate, considering how there were no large holes in the fencing around the facility. 

 

While waiting, I decide to take some food of my friend's body. When I did so I heard a loud burst of automatic gunfire from what sounded like an M4. It sounded as if it came from right outside the tower. I waited at the entrance for 5 minutes, but no movement. I heard no foot steps or any other sounds. 

 

I finally go outside and notice the gate had not been opened or any other thing changed including the some of the valuable loot I left in the building. I went back in to get the food and heard reloading sounds, like the ones when someone re-spawns. I ran outside to be greeted with nothing. I had no idea of what was happening and thought there may be people outside. I decided to leave. I opened that gate and sprinted down the hill. 

 

I don't know if this is a glitch or something else. I am relatively new to DayZ as I did not play much of the mod. I looked up this place and found other stories with relatively similar  experiences and I still don't know exactly what to think.

There is a known and pretty common glitch where ladders will kill you. It's very likely to happen if you stay on that ladder for a long period of time.

 

As for the gunfire, it could be anything, maybe a combat logger, maybe Rocket messing with everyone's head, who knows :P

 

As for the random reload sounds, they do happen time to time. they sound like they are right next to you, but nobody is there. Same for cans opening.

There is a glitch where you end up stuck inside a wall in police station. It may have been someone messing with you while they were stuck in there.

On a side note you can get into Green Mountain other ways than just the front gate. The only way to get inside the chainlink is at the front but then you can follow it around and crawl through the iconic holes at the bottom of the inner one.
