jurike48 0 Posted January 5, 2014 Hello fellow survivors,I have recently watched a short document where they compared M16 and Ak47 in Vietnam war and how these weapons performed in harsh conditions. They said that even smallest grain of sand could jam the M16, however the AK could fire evene if you threw a fistful of sand into the chamber, My idea is to give weapons kind of cleanness status that would affect the chance of gun to jam. Player would be abble to clean his weapon with improvised or original tools. The "dirtines" of weapon could increase by common shooting, by crawling with zour weapon in hands, by going through swamp lakes etc.... As stated above diferent weapons would have diferent tolerancy to dirt and diferent chances of jamming. I would love to hear your oppinions
Timecharge 28 Posted January 5, 2014 so basically making it so that weapons would have a status on how damaged they are (no limit to how often a weapon can jam) worn - most likely fine small chance to jam damaged - slightly larger chance to jam all the way down to badly damaged where its just larger and larger chances to jam ruined - won't fire until fixed
creature 1189 Posted January 5, 2014 Pretty sure that's the whole idea behind the condition of the parts of your weapon. Possibility of jamming or not firing at all. It's just not fully implemented yet. I do like your idea though. Maintaining your weapon could keep it pristine without having to find new parts.
Scotchy 3 Posted January 5, 2014 The test in the video you were looking at were performed on Vietnam era M16's/Car-15's, when the rifles still had ridiculous amounts of problems, modern AR's have the majority of these problems fixed.

ALSO they were told in Vietnam that they are 'self cleaning' which is complete BS. I have never had one jam that was properly cleaned. The issue with the modern M4s is they sometimes have an issue retaining enough gas pressure to properly cycle the bolt. Overall I like this idea. Weapon condition and cleanliness should be two things. If you keep it clean it won't lose condition as fast. My only problem is with sickness, cold weather, wet weather, eating, drinking, getting new shoes or coats, magazines breaking, ammo breaking, scopes breaking, setting up a cooking pot, going fishing/hunting and looting there might come a point where TOO much realism is a bad thing.

Would like to see assembly and oiling of parts tho. Give realism a kick. Edited January 5, 2014 by Ineedscoffee
