Iain365 11 Posted January 4, 2014 (edited) I'm quite new to dayz and just wanted to ask about the zombie ai in game.I'd heard if you broke line of site and were then quiet the zombies would potentially lose track of you? I've recently respawned and have found that zombies seem to want to chase me everywhere! This wasn't an issue when I had a fire axe but with just my fists (and a moldy banana) I'm struggling to lose them! Am I just being a bit dim? mySoup117 9 Posted January 4, 2014 (edited) Zombies are OP in SA, but you can kill them with your almighty fists, just constantly hitting their faces (definitely 1st person) and you would be fine. Still, be patient when fighting with/trying to get lose from zombies without a descent weapon, its gonna take some time. Now, that said I've also taken on two at a time a couple of times, and both times I've been hit and bled. It definitely seems that first person is best, and definitely STAND UP! Crouching with fists or a weapon seems to fail (which makes sense). I've used a bat, a shovel, a wrench, a crowbar, and both axes. With the exception of the fireman's axe, I'd choose fists for any single zombie encounter. Even though the wrench (I think) and the woodsplitting axe were two hit kills, I still have taken damage a couple of times. I believe I read that the crowbar was supposed to be a two hit kill, but in my experience it wasn't. Or, I was too drunk to notice that I was missing. Of course, once this gets optimized a single zombie fight will be pretty much non-existent. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

ianramos 47 Posted January 5, 2014 They will stop following after a certain distance you are from it (they run slowly), or you can just kill it using your fists, if there's just 1 or 2. If there are more and you don't have any weapon, it's better run. To kill it with your own hands just keep their head and they will fall and get up like 3 or 4 times and then it'll die.
