How difficult should it be?

How difficult should DayZ be?

  1. 1. What level of diffiuclty do you wish to see in DayZ?(Strictly PVE)

    • Extreme difficulty (Hard to even survive on an empty server)

I'm sick of putting myself in bad situations just to see if I can pull myself out of them. I want the game to give me no other choice but face situations that dire. If I had my way, I would set the game up so even the best dayz players have difficulty reaching full health, even on an empty server. Then I'd open the flood gates and watch the apocalypse happen. Make loot rare and the elements harsh I say!

 

What do you say? How difficult would you like to see DayZ become?

I want good players to make it look... A little harder than easy... Moderate? It shouldn't always be easy to survive, but it shouldn't be as hard as your moderate difficulty.

Alpha bat incoming!!

 

It is Alpha and so half of the features are missing.

 

Right now the main causes of death are other players and bugs.

 

In the full game you will have more zombies, better zombies, zombie hordes, illness/poisoning, players etc..

Shooting a loud gun in a town will attract zombies, zombies will go into horde mode on your ass, there will be wondering groups of zombie in the wilderness etc..

 

In a perfect world we would have seasons like winter added to the game (even if it is a server setting a host must turn on) and before you know it players have to wear "warm" clothes, use camp fires for warmth (also can attract zombies) and must not be outside for too long. It also makes all of our camo and dark coloured gear useless as lots of stuff will be white making us greater targets for bandits....

 

Just relax dude, point of Alpha is to stress test, find and fix bugs and carve out how the features should work etc... This game hasn't even begun yet.

So... it being an alpha prevents you from having an opinion?

 

Ignoring players and bugs, how difficult do you want it? How much of a challenge from the environment are you looking for in DayZ? Pretty simple question, has nothing to do with specific features.

I would like to see the game get really really detailed and hard like a lot of unknowns. I never look up anything outside of the game only learn in game what can happen and so far the living is easily :)

We're only at the start of the Alpha/Beta process, so I'll give them a little leeway ATM, but....

 

But surviving in the current DayZ world is a little too easy. Let's be honest, once you have a melee weapon and have visited a pump and had a drink, the Zs cease to be a viable threat. Yeah, it can take a few hits to take down a Z if you don't have an axe, but they are easy to out maneuver in that stylised combat ballet you quickly become familiar with.

 

The only real threat is other players; as in real life, so in-game!

 

I know the devs have said that they are unhappy with the current iteration of zombies and their behaviours, and can only hope that some future iteration will see the threat level from them ramped up considerably.

 

I'd like to see the overall difficulty of the game ramped up to extreme, at least as to the survivability of a solo character in the world. I'd like to see it at the point where you would have to rely on some cooperation between players to take on even some mundane tasks, especially in virgin areas of the game map where players hadn't tread yet.

 

I think this could be done without impinging too much on any of the PvP ideals that seem to be rife across DayZ ATM, and could really enhance the PvE experience for players more inclined towards that end of the spectrum, like myself.

Difficulty was always a very important. but also very sensible topic of DayZ.

You are starting with 0 items and thus the beginning of every life is the most difficult, but most irrelevant part, because you lose nothing upon dying. I really would like to see a difficult and detailed survival experience, but in the same time it should not feel like sheer luck if i survive the first minutes until i get my hand on a melee weapon in the game. Like it was the case in some former versions of the mod, when the Zeds werent working properly and could only be avoided with much luck. Maybe its possible if we add "weight" to the players stats, so that a naked player can outrun zombies, while a geared up one is struggling. Just a spontaneus idea. In the end it all comes down to proper working and then balanced zeds. I really would like to have the possibility to crawl through a town full of zeds, trying to get my basic stuff without alerting them. A playstyle the most players executed in their first rounds of the mod, until they discovered how easy it was to just run through the cities.
