Dean "Rocket" Hall, may I ask a Favor?

Recommended Posts

cross platform may not be welcomed by the console communities. I'm willing to bet within the first day of that happening, tons and tons of complaining people will storm the internet saying how PC vs Console is not fair due to a keyboard and a mouse having an arguably significant advantage over controllers.

I believe a while ago, microsoft conducted a cross platforming test in an FPS styled game. Result was Mouse/Keyboard users "destroyed" gamepad users.

"Next-gen" consoles are far too weak to run DayZ, even if you cut down the map size and graphics

I don't really see how DayZ would work on a console as i count i use atleast 16+ keys when playing DayZ.

An Xbox One or PS4 controller as i understand has around 12 buttons or so.

The ps4 controller has also 2 analog sticks that would make for at least 4 of the buttons, plus it has a touchpad. I don't think it would be a problem

I don't understand why people are saying that PC gaming is the master race, as Personal Computers dont have access to the marketing Xbox, Playstation, and other consoles have. Main titles such as Grand Theft auto, halo, and Call of Duty, have made more on Consoles, than PCs could ever imagine. Now I'm not saying PCs are bad, their graphics are good, and barely lag, but there are more hackers on PC, than Xbox and PSN.

Also, the graphics for DayZ are not "That good", Current Playstation 4 and Xbox one hardware would not have a problem running the games at a decent 30 fps. An honestly, there is no "visible difference" between 30fps and 60fps, not that the human eye can see. Also, button combinations would make up for the loss of keys.

(PROBABLY) No.

You can easily get a PC for a decent price that can handle this game, as long as you make sure to get a set of specifications that the engine currently knows how to use correctly. Plus, the control layout and other complexities of this game make it nearly impossible. The game would have to be streamlined in terms of movement controls and inventory controls. Throw in how inaccurate a controller is with aiming, and you have yet another problem.

So, yeah, probably not.

Stop with the port begging. If you want to play a game that is on another platform then purchase said platform.

Porting to the ps4 or xbox one at this point in time will do nothing but delay the current version and make it far worse.

If any Developers read this, please take this seriously and respectfully.

Dean Hall, many gamers have been moved by your release "Dayz" and have wanted to play it for a while, however some gamers have only Playstation 4, and Xbox One. In all Seriousness, not every family, let alone young adult, can afford a Desktop or Gaming laptop Capable of playing your Awesome Mod/ Standalone release. Afrer some research online, I have only come across a couple websites, mainly News, that mentions Your title coming to New generation Consoles, and these, are lacking in important details, and are leaving console gamers in the dark. If you, as you have the most influence on media right now, could make a Official announcement pertaining to Console release, which we all know is, if indeed is true, is some way off. I know, after reading, that Microsoft has put in effect a fee, for updating the game. If I remember correctly, is 10,000$. We all know this is an obstacle, but console gaming is, as you said, a mainstream right into the market. So if you would, please give your thoughts and, if necessary, your plans for Dayz Coming to consoles, if indeed these rumors are true..

Thankyou

From what I understand they will be releasing console versions wayyyyy down the road once the PC ones are 100% complete (aside from updates obviously).

Also, for the record, you can buy a decent gaming PC for as much or maybe one to two hundred dollars more than a PS4 and Xbox one.  Just saying.

Look at the system specs. It will never happen. NEVER EVER.

I know, and I don't want to be, but I speak the truth.

The now current gen consoles will be able to run much more demanding open world games like Sleeping Dogs and The Division so I doubt BI would be locked out of the console marketplace. Also you responded earlier that I should take out the GPU and that is not an apt comparison since the AMD chipset is both a GPU and CPU in the PS4. I am well aware that PC is the better option for high end gaming, but there are games that are far more challenging on PCs than DayZ (BF4 comes to mind) that run just fine on the now current gen consoles (lets stop calling them next gen, they are out and now are the current gen of consoles).

The real question is does BI have the talent to actually work on a console gaming experience, that is the real obstacle to porting over DayZ since they have limited experience in that part of the market. You might be correct that it will never happen, but the hardware would not be the reason it did not happen.

@gibonez, they would be stupid to hinder or halt production on patches for the PC version right now only to push for a xbox or ps4 release. Simple as this, Xbox One, and Playstation 4, have the capability to run the game, its key mapping, and developers thoughts about putting the said title to such consoles. Honestly, if you guys are so butthurt about a "immature community" coming to dayz, then you shouldnt be playing it in the first place. A game is a game, deal with what the developers do and the people you play with, if you have a issue with the people that play the game, then take that up with devs....period.

Its very easy to see the difference between 30 and 60 fps.

I agree completely, but most families dont have such extra money to spend sadly, unless given children or adults have a job.

If you would have any common sense, you would see that there is no "visible difference" between 30fps and 60fps.. slowing it down, yes, at realtime, no.

How so? The difference between a game running at 30FPS and 60FPS is visible to anybody with decent vision.

The difference of 60FPS to 100FPS is visible to enthusiasts who are constantly working/playing games at such frames. Contrary to popular belief, the brain can easily distinguish between 60FPS or 100FPS or even higher. What it can't do easily is pinpoint it as easily. You'll know it's running smoother, but as it starts to near your visual limit, the differences become smaller and smaller until you stop registering it.

30 and 60 though, it's like night and day.

Hmm, in order to get released on consoles, it may have to get out of beta in the very first place. Sinca the alpha status wont drop that fast, I wouldnt hold my breath.

The brain can distinguish it, but at REALTIME, the Human EYE , cannot distinguish difference. People believe that they can see the difference, when you really cannot... go ahead and starr at a screen for hours and try to find the diffence... crytek proved it bud..

Thank you. Everyone here talking about the keys, and keyboard vs controller  Bs, please take a look at three things : Your PC specs. How well the VR engine(s) are running on it. The XBox one/PS4 specs.

Explain to me how that is supposed to work. Please. Oh wait, you can't. Because it simply won't work.

Also, the graphics for DayZ are not "That good", Current Playstation 4 and Xbox one hardware would not have a problem running the games at a decent 30 fps. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Have you ever seen anything that had more than 40 fps? LOL, LOL, LOL! "No difference" he says... LOL. Our eye can "see" the difference between 120 and 300 fps. LOL!

Besides, if you were to run DayZ on the PS4 you wouldn't get more than 5 fps at 800*600

Come on dude, get real. VR can't utilize more than 3 cores, it's bee like that for the last 5 years! Let me ask you, what kind of CPU do you have? Underclock it to 1.75 GHz, and even with a titan you won't get playable frames, let alone with out a graphics card at all/having the other 5 cores of that amd render it.

Seriously, I can't understand why people love consoles, but that doesn't matter : They. Don't. Have. The. Specs. for it. I'm sorry, but they just don't! No amount of optimisation will ever make the RV engine fit on a 1.75 GHz cpu! No matter how many cores! It's just unrealistic, and Dean should have known before waking false hopes! Talk with anyone who knows anything about the RV engines, and they'll tell you that on a 1.75, heck even on a 2 GHz CPU you won't get two didget frames!

NO! i will not see DayZ go down the drain like all games which could have been awesome except for crappy ports.

I know that it will be going from PC to (Whatever console) but at what cost?

Tell me how they should do it! I don't mind the console peasants enjoing the SA, but with the current consoles it's impossible. Start accepting reality! They 'd need consoles with a 2.3+ GHz cpu and a graphics card, and that has yet to come.

It is to me highly entertaining to hear that someone out there in the world thinks that consoles are a more affordable gaming platform. You can do so much with a PC for completely free as well as take advantage of so many gaming discounts. PC is -by far- the most cost-efficient gaming solution, it is not even close. I personally think it is the unfortunate combination of being poor -and- lazy that draws people to the conclusion that consoles are the best solution for them.

PC gaming master race is superior in every way imaginable to console diddling. If you are of the underrace that undoubtedly is console gaming then it ought to be abundantly clear that asking for DayZ is indeed reaching far above your station.

Man with the money people shell out for Next gen consoles. You can build a budget gaming build that will run games fine

you don't need a supercomputer to play most games (that's only to max em and still have em run good XD). But i hat when i see

a topic i can only buy ps4 and  Xbox 1 plz we need Dayz on it. It bugs me to no end. look around use the money and build a   budget gaming rig and such its not hard. Go round forums ppl will help you get the best for your money.

TL;DR- If you can afford Xbone or PS4 you can get PC
