TheWeedMan 132 Posted January 2, 2014 Hey Rocket & CoI have an idea that may help with the progression speed of things and leave you devs spare time to concentrate on other aspects.Fortan for example had been creating sound effects that sound amazing and hes obviously put a lot of work into this.....why not use them???My idea is....release the infected model/skin pack and have it available for download then have the community's model and skin designers contribute. We could then vote via polls on the forums on what designs are good enough to be featured in the game.If its successful then we could do the same for other aspects.
hoax2 2 Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) Not a bad idea really. Valve do this with TF2. Just get dayZ on the steam workshop Edited January 2, 2014 by Hoax2
twingunz 308 Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) I like the idea to have the community help but i don't like the idea of us voting it should entirely be up to the dev team as it's their game and honestly we will ruin the game we all think our ideas are the be all and end all but they're not, again though i do like the idea and it'd be a privilege to have the devs select a weapon a skin a building a whatever to implement in the game that someone made. TheWeedMan 132 Posted January 2, 2014 Yeah having the devs pick will probably be better and the steam workshops a great idea.
OrLoK 16188 Posted January 2, 2014 Hello there Community assistance is always nice but there are pitfall involved at the same time. Also its not the case that if one just throws external assets at the game it will not be finished any faster. Rgds LoK

They might be copyrighted, therefore they're not allowed to use them in a commercial project. Same would go for skin models made by community. Devs can't know is it not just a edit of a downloaded model somewhere which isn't for commercial use. Edited January 2, 2014 by Twixxer
TheWeedMan 132 Posted January 2, 2014 Its not so much as getting the game finished faster...its more of a helping hand to allow the devs to work on other parts like getting the bugs fixed and keep the community occupied lol
