Eating sure takes a while.

Recommended Posts

Im sure by now we've all seen the hunger/thirst video and started eating/drinking anything on sight as soon as we come across it. Problem is, it takes too damn long to eat anything, filling up my stomach can take up to twenty minutes of me sitting watching the same animation over and over while Im exposed and by the time Im full I feel as if I've eating half the food in Chernarus.

I think there's probably a few ways to make this better:

1-Give me an option to eat an entire can of beans/tuna/whatever instead of 25% portions, Im ok with the animation taking a little longer.

2-Either reduce the stomach's size slightly, or increase the amount food fills you up, if I eat a whole can of beans Im going to be pretty full, yet in DayZ I can eat 4 full cans in a row and Im still not even close to being full, did my character used to be morbidly obese or something?

To counter this perhaps the availability of food could be reduced, so food fills you up faster but there's less of it.

Finally, Im sure this has been reported but here goes anyways because why not:

Eating something from the inventory menu doesn't always work, sometimes my character will unequip his weapon and then just stand there with his fists up, doing nothing. In these cases I have to spam the Eat command until it finally works.

It's a bit clunky, and always makes me feel uneasy because equipping a weapon and actually getting the character to hold it in his hands is quite an adventure.

In before "alpher", I kno guise, it's coolio.

On the other hand you're running full-pelt for miles while carrying 20kg+ worth of equipment. In real life soldiers need a tonne of calories per day - there's an interesting article about this at the Chicago Tribune:

"The MRE, which costs the Defense Department about $7.25 per meal, was first introduced in 1980 with a dozen different menus, including a few that soldiers deemed inedible, such as Smoky Franks, which soldiers called the Four Fingers of Death, or Chicken a la King, which was known as Chicken a la Death.

When the MRE went to war in the early 1990s, it fared little better with troops on the ground in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, who derisively referred to the rations as Meals Refused by Everyone.

The MRE developed such a poor reputation that former Joint Chiefs Chairman Colin Powell ordered it overhauled. In 1995, the National Academy of Sciences found that troops were under-consuming their rations by 1,000 calories per day."

Course, in real life if you ate a whole can of cold baked beans and then sprinted for two miles you'd probably throw up. There's an issue whereby former service personnel put on a lot of weight after they leave the service, because their eating habits don't return to normal.

I have no problem with eating taking a while at all.

It's a little clunky at the moment so it could use some polishing but I have no problem with it taking like ~30 seconds to fully eat a can of beans

I don't mind it, I like finding a isolated house and taking the time to eat while sorting my gear.

I have not had these problems.  I usually spawn and fill up on water at a well then go gather food and weapons.  I can sit and eat 3 or 4 cans of food and it says I am full again and I get a Healthy status.  I have never had it take 20 minutes, that must be an exaggeration.
