Wake up, eat a bowl of cereal, check show times for the hobbit for my fiancé. Log into dayz, pick one of my usual servers, only five people on. Figure eh, may as well use the low pop to head deeper north then I already am.

Log in, on my loading screen, before I'm even givin a chance to move, two mosin shots ring out in close quarter. Finally loaded fully into, which is only a thirty second process, I'm dead.

I use VoIP, tell the kid happy new year, I'll let him loot me before re spawning. Not even a wod, just the sound of reloading.

See, thirty hours gone, not a big deal. Loot gone, whatever, I can get more. Being shot on a server without even givin a chance to respond however, bugs me.

Little shit didn't even to have the curtousy to let me know he was done looting after I graciously allowed him the chance without rage logging, etc.

I used to not kos, thanks to this kid however, that's changed, time to be the bigger fish.

Errr, bad spot eh? Last time I checked there are no safe zones. So wouldn't everywhere be bad?

Logging off in a barracks, ATC towers, towns, ect.. would be bad places good places is the middle of the forest covered in trees.

Sawlstone, how can you not understand that there are good places and bad places to log out?

 

Bad spot to log out - near player hotspots (airfields/spawn areas), out of cover or in popular buildings (hospitals/barracks/school/fire station).

Good place to log out - buried in between two fir trees where you can't even be seen when you log back in. Or if in a town, in one of the empty shacks around the back of numerous buildings...

Guess I'd better elaborate on my log out position, in the very back corner of a non loot providing brown building, in the deep north east. My log out spot was not the issue.

After the latest patch, you can safely respawn or exit the server and your gear will remain there. No need to wait.

 

Also give me a break in regards to your last sentence. Next time log out in a safer place. No need to turn into the scum of the earth that this game already has.

Yeah it sucks but if your log out spot was safer and had less traffic you would have been fine, just saying.

NE used to be safer until the recent patch, you'll now have a bunch of fresh spawns en-route to NEAF so I wouldn't log out in towns around that area... in fact although I suggested logging off in the shacks, personally I very rarely log out in towns at all.

 

Any town is gonna be more of a risk for you to log in at when there's the option to log into a completely invisible place between two trees (and these spots are EVERYWHERE). It's a question of probabilities and the major distribution of players will be airfields > towns > wilderness.

 

The other issue is that if someone logs in within earshot, it's a surprise/worrying moment for the player.

 

Have they been ghosted? Is the guy armed? Does he have allies already in the server or logging in after him? You didn't mention what kinda loadout you had, but if I saw someone logging in and they had a gun, I'd probably be quite panicky as well.

do you actually thing if you said you were friendly or not going to shoot them would of changed their mind anyway, its just the standard shithead with trigger itchy fingers playing the game as if its call of duty, also don't log in building do it in the forest.

Yeah, thinking back, even the typical loot free buildings were a poor choice. Well, least I have something to do now.
