Anyone having FPS issues?

Recommended Posts

So I bought DayZ standalone about 3 days ago. Played it for 2 days and didn't have an issue. Today I come online and I see my FPS is around 8-10 if I'm in cities and about 20 if out roaming around.

I play on servers that have very low ping(60max) and sometimes players (20). I hope it's not my laptop, as I can play other games like World of Warcraft, RIFT, Path Of Exile.

My settings are on Custom which is about "Disable-very low--medium" range, depending what it is. I went into my files also and changed stuff up as youtube videos said thould do. For my KeyLauncher or whatever for Steam I added those 3 out 4 things (Don't know what to put for 5.47 GB ram)

I'm really hoping it's the game and not my internet/laptop.

edit: I have a Acer Aspire 5560g-sb448

-AMD radeon 6740g2. 1 dedicated vram with turbo core tech up to 2.40ghz

-AMD quad 18-3500m

-6gb DDR3 memory installed

Don't know much about computers. Only know these because it says so on the sticker that's still on my laptop

Some people have reported having better performance on high settings which is strange while the lowest settings seems to set you down quite low on FPS.

Ping won't help much on computer performance unless if we were talking about DayZ Mod when it required a lot of restarts, ping is only good for your network latency.

I wouldn't quite say your setup is up to standards with the minimum requirements but give it a shot here for techies to help you ;) http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154395-can-i-run-dayz-retail-post-here/

but don't lose hope yet: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154330-possible-fps-enhancer/

Welp, Im running

Intel Core i3 2.10 GHz along with Intel HD Graphics 3000

which is pretty much the shittiest computer that dirt can buy these days and I get playable fps in cities, good fps in open areas. Just turn down your settings a bit and follow some FPS increase guides.

I know its strange, but always keep your textures on its highest setting. I have no idea why this gives better FPS, and its not only this game that gives a boost when using high textures.

Sounds like normal to me. The game is just really demanding and the server/amount of people there has quiet an impact on ur fps aswell.

Tbh i dont think anyone can run this game maxed out with like 50 fps.

Shadows on very low gives better performance in many scenes i've tested, "normal" is even higher but doens't look quite as good as very low when it comes to tree shadows imo (and doesn't render at the right depth with 3D Vision). However in dense forests i've tested in it doens't work this way.

It's possible with a semi-high end CPU, decent graphics card and an SSD in use.

Thanks. I just did the file changing again. This time I put "Read Only" as well changed the launcher. Should I be playing on Power Saver, Balanced or High Performance. Just don't want to overheat or anything. Seems when playing games my laptop goes to 90`c which I heard is ok for laptops, bad for desktops

I'll run that Fraps FPS thing and see if changing to High and Low makes a big difference
