I saw that the patch notes included "Design: Player corpses should no longer despawn upon disconnect"

 

Does this mean we can kill people and they won't disappear when they disconnect?

Yeah.  I had to kill some poor schmuck that I was holding at gun point because he accidentally pointed his empty magnum at me while "showing" it to me.  I was able to casually go through his things and the body was still there for quite awhile.

Thanks to the ever-present population of snipers in cities, places like Cherno are littered with bodies full of goodies if you feel like risking running into the sniper's crosshairs. I've had good luck looting both Mosins, M4s and full backpacks and clothes off people who died in this fashion.
