grubby 1 Posted December 31, 2013 So I understand the game is in early access and I am cool with that, I am all for bug hunting and so on. Dealing with bugged out zombies and UI issues and so on is acceptable. Switching servers and having your character reset on the other hand is not acceptable at all in any stage. My usual friends weren't on and the server I usually play was a bit dead so I figured I would check out a higher pop server. I log in to find myself at the shore as a fresh spawn. Knowing this some times happens from server to server I went back to my usual. Same deal, everything gone and just sitting on the beach. I didn't die, didn't respawn or do anything out of the ordinary and I get this. Not acceptable Rocket, not one bit.
Samo_Smithy 3 Posted December 31, 2013 There's obviously going to be some character restarts in the game so that they can add in new things to the game. The game isn't yet to played long hours at such an early stage.
TheLastEmp 295 Posted December 31, 2013 Your expectations are unrealistic. I agree that fixing the "character save" function should be a top priority (and from what I've read I believe it is). However, it will be necessary for your character to be reset numerous times just from updates alone. You SHOULD NOT have any attachment to your character or your gear while a game is in an alpha stage. You're only setting yourself up for frustration and disappointment. The specific issue you're referencing will be fixed soon enough... but you should still give up that attachment to your character and gear.
zhrike 264 Posted December 31, 2013 Not acceptable Rocket, not one bit. It's frustrating yes, but ... it's an alpha; not only is it acceptable, it's expected. Don't expect to have your character from one day to the next, or even from one hour to the next at this stage. It's not just early access, it is its alpha stage. Gearing up is fun anyway. Now you get to run naked into town yelling "I feel like a drink, I feel like a drink, someone give me a fucking drink!"
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) 1747 Posted December 31, 2013 These are my favorite kind of posts. Acknowledges that the game is in Alpha; Complains that the game is in Alpha. Look, just because you say "I know this is Alpha but," does not suddenly make your complaint valid. It's like saying "With all due respect, you are a dick." Atom Quark 437 Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) If you think the larger fixes and patches can take place faster than smaller fixes. You might be annoyed. Edited December 31, 2013 by AtomQuark
