How does ruined ammo differ from Pristine? Is it less accurate? Will it even fire?

As far as I know (and please correct me if I'm wrong) but the pristine versus ruined (and everything in between) means very little at the moment I think.

 

I appear to still be able to eat "ruined" food or drink from my "ruined" canteen.. and use my "ruined" compass.

 

It would be nice to get a more in depth explanation as to what "ruined" actually means or will mean in the future. Can ruined ammo not be loaded into a mag? can you not drink from a ruined canteen? can you not eat ruined food or does it simply not fill you up as much? Or does it increase the risk of food poisoning or something?

 

As of right now, I believe it's just cosmetic.

So far from what I've noticed, ruined ammo cannot be combined with any other durability of ammo. Things like ruined canteens cannot be filled at pumps either. I imagine there's more things planned later on.

 

EDIT: Apparently you can fill ruined canteens.

Not yet implemented.

 

In the future? Pristine will work no problem, ruined won't work. Everything between that will cause decreased accuracy, possible jamming.

They can, and it restores the canteen to "Pristine" condition.

I don't think ruined ammo has an effect, but I do think that food has a higher chance to give you a sickness if its ruined, and clothes don't protect if they're ruined.

Right now it's just guessing game. Aside from obvious things like scopes, ruined items seem to work like pristine items.

So are the DEv's going to create a system where if you use ruined ammo you have a higher chance of getting a fix jam...

 

So you may need to Press "J" to clear the jam..

 

Imagine how many bambi's lives could be potentially saved!!!
