GulpinGulpin 40 Posted December 30, 2013 hi, i played the mod a shit load and haven't had a chance to get the standalone yet but i will this week and pretty much all ive been doing is watching youtube videos and shit for the standalone in my free time but i was wondering, how have you guys gone about making camps? cus in the mod i would know the coordinates of my camp and just put a waypoint on it to find it, but from what i've seen there isn't waypoint in the standalone... so what do u just have to memorize its exact spot? just wondering, all help is appreciated, thanks. frosti 2165 Posted December 30, 2013 I was playing DayZ mod with servers that had disabled waypoints/map markers so I'll just use map, eventually compass to find anything I need, like I always did.

weedmasta 784 Posted December 30, 2013 You will have to figure out where you are with a compass and by interpreting the ingame/out of game map. Which is how it should have been from the get go imo.
frosti 2165 Posted December 30, 2013 I'm pretty sure that some standalone servers in future will have settings that allow you to set waypoints on map or even know your exact position on map.

Camps aren't implemented yet but Rocket has talked about some pretty interesting/exciting features that will be coming. And dumping your stuff in some secret spot doesn't really work either because server restarts are very frequent. If you're already familiar with Chernarus from the mod, you'll find that the standalone will be pretty familiar too so you shouldn't have trouble finding your way around. Of course, there are numerous ways to do get your bearings in DayZ. Edited December 30, 2013 by NeedsFoodBadly

dallas 5195 Posted December 30, 2013 I'd say the last week has simply been a pure stress test, to see if the servers crumpled under the interest from all the new players. I suspect after the holidays, we'll slowly begin to move forward from there and begin seeing more content, while unexpected problems are also being addressed. The only thing that remains when the server resets is what you're carrying.

ninjacalypse 551 Posted December 30, 2013 are there even tents in the standalone at the moment? Well, there are static tents. Dumping stuff in them won't do anything but leave a pile of loot for someone else to find, if they get there before the next restart.
Korsbaek 1778 Posted December 30, 2013 Nope. The only thing that remains when the server resets is what you're carrying. Have you ever had a tent in the mod? Everything in the tent stayed there. Even after server restarts.
