Random Character Wipes need to be fixed

I have filed bug reports on this but I was intersted in hearing how many of you will log onto a server, loose all your gear and end up on the coast.

I can tell it will happen as the game loads into the server as the sound of the coast occurs before the screen opens..... and presto I have been wiped.

I have been player killed once since alpha release, wiped once by Rocket ;), and random wiped at least 20 times.  This is the largest problem I see that needs to be addressed at the moment.  Is it related to server stability? I know some have suggested it has to do with 'White Listing' of servers but this has occured on a server that I was already on and was rejoining again at a different time.  It has also happened when rejoining a server that I got the time out and red link icon.

What are your thoughts?

Pff, happend to me 3 times over the last couple days. And you know what, I'm not bothered about it. It gives me a chance to respawn meet new players have fun, and stop lurking in the shadows fully geared up afraid to lose it all...

 

The fist fights that I've been challenged to right after the respawn are hilarious ( my stats so far W4 - L0 - D0).

AFAIK, the wipes are because of the constant updates. I'm fairly sure Rocket stated that wipes are gonna be happening every couple days with regular work on the game. While the situations that you have said that you have been wiped on might point to an actual bug, even if that wasn't affecting you, don't expect to keep a character for more than a week at best.

Yep, happens for me all the time too, its really frustrating by now.

Not much to do about it i think, but it is annoying when trying to check out the northern part of the map, only to get respawned right back at the beach in the south time and time again.

 

@Jaginun - Im fairly sure this isnt because of random updates, since this can happen multiple times a day, and it doesnt happen to the guys im playing with.

I have been playing a lot lately , and not once has my character been reset , the only time it will happen is usually if you switch servers a lot or have gone into the experimental one

I am totally fine with the condition of Alpha and also totally cool with it being a 'work in progress'.  It just seems to be for me like playing roulette every-time I log off the game.

'Will I have my character and stuff when I log back on or will I return to the coast."  It happens so often that I really no longer worry abvout gear or even illness.  I just run around kill zombies and talk with players ... the survival part of the game (a large part of the game) is senseless with the constant threat of a reset.

1.) It's alpha.

 

2.) Rocket has publicly stated that DELIBERATE character wipes will occur routinely throughout the alpha and beta stage, to fix exploits or simply because some other change to the game will make it necessary to clear everyone's existing inventory.

 

 

So don't expect Rocket's team to care much about any merely accidental character wipes, bud.  You are effectively a play-tester right now, and a play-tester expects to deal with game-breaking bugs as a matter of course.

You should stick to one server and then you might not get random wipes

Man I hate to beat a dead horse, but it's Alpha.  There is no fixing character wipes, it's a part of the development process.

Find a few servers that work and only play on those, only way to avoid wipes. It is not random, and most people experiencing that many wipes are server hoppers.

This has occurred on the same server randomly.... so if I do get wiped on a server I switch to a new while at the coast (so if it I am going to get wiped for switching servers it can happen in the beginning)

I have found no pattern in when or how it occurs.  I sometimes log back on and its fine, and other times it is back to the coast.

It should not happen on the same server, you most likely chose another server accidentally.
