Armor plates

Recommended Posts

Equipment such as combat vests and bulletproof vest have slots for armor plate insertion, so my suggestion is to add armor plates,

as well improvised plates in similar fashion as weapon attachments. You could then restore their capability to absorb physical trauma.

So rare items do not go to waste, but have survivors restore/maintain them with replaceable plates, rags and a needle.

Rags and thread & needle should be able to restore any material ruined/ badly damaged to damaged :) thread & needle worn - pristine.

Maybe you could have a crafting bench (favourite idea of mine :) ) at this crafting bench you can combine two damaged or better to make a pristine piece.

As for bullet proof vests, new armour plate as well as needle & thread.

Different levels of armour plate, improvised thin, maybe double layer (sheet metal from cars and such) able to stop small caliber, sub sonic rounds at long range.

All the way to a heavy metal level 3 type armour able to stop 7.62 at close range (extremely rare pristine fruit x50) specialist military gear.

Improvised would be heavier than proper military stuff.

We need that shit too, I wanna go 15th century style on these infected.

Could have swords which should realistically be more efficient than a fire axe.

Pole arms for good melee range.

There's these giant castles with nothing more than old clothes in them, you think there might be some displays.

As it strikes me there isn't much tourism in Chernarus, not even stuff for the locals to go out and look at.

Surely there would be a bit of interest in Middle ages equipment and castles and a bit of stuff left from displays and such?!?

I'd like to see devils castle touristed up a bit :)

Good luck sewing woven Kevlar soft armour or hard armour plates back together.

Kevlar could be done.

Armour plates could be replaced.

like it, but what is traditionally called a "bulletproof vest" is a Kevlar vest, and a combat vests is just for your gear, the Correct terminology would be plate carrier, and most plate carriers, are MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) i hope we see this modular pouch system in the final version of dayz.

for plate's, ceramic rifle plate's are the most common rifle plate's, used in nato and the us army, they can stop a few AK / M4 rounds up to about 7, and one round of  762X51 and 762X54R M14/M24/Mosin/SVD.... and they only cover a small part of your torso, not much bigger then a A4 piece of  paper on your Chest, and the Weight of two rifle plate's is about the same as three M4 carbine's.

a side note:

I hope we see a Weight system in SA, and if so you have to make multiple Decisions that you don't worry about now.
like do i want rifle plate's..... do i want a backpack.... do i go single plate in the front and hope my friends don't accidentally shoot me in the back.......

How? Cut out the damaged part and sew it back together? The next shot on that place will tear that patch out and end inside you in the worst case, that's why those things are one way. Kevlar that is ripped rips easier than anything else. It's like wanting to tie a bungee rope back together where it ripped...who would want to jump with that? If you had a trauma plate behind it you are lucky since you only have to replace that but you still have the damaged cloth that holds the plate in place. Replacing it with anything weaker than the original material puts the wearer at risk.

Think you guys are looking too closely to the subject.

I think you cant put back together kevlar vest, but you can replace armored plates in many kinds of vests.

I have worn military vests and they seem have velcro "pouch" within you can insert the plate in and this

you could replace with another armored plate and as in term of fabrics the vests themselves are made from fabrics are they not?
