Inokuma 1 Posted December 29, 2013 I don't have much money, so I probably won't be able to upgrade/buy a new computer for quite sometime. I bought this laptop back in 2011, and it's really not that bad. It can play most games on high without many problems, but I can't even play this game with everything on the lowest settings and everything that can be disabled, disabled. Not even at a low resolution. System Requirements Lab said that I pass the minimum spec requirements, though. Specs: ASUS G73jh-b1i7-740qm (1.73-2.93GHz quad core)ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 (740 MHz / 1030 MHz)8GB RAM Are there any hopes for being able to run this game in the future, or am I S.O.L.? SalamanderAnder (DayZ) 1747 Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) I have literally the exact same laptop and it runs the game just fine. Sometimes it chugs a bit in the big city areas, but otherwise, I've had a really smooth experience. Running on medium - high settings. 100% resolution, on a larger, non-native monitor. Sometimes I even get screen tearing. Have you tried updating your drivers, like, ever? Actually I'm going to redact that. I have an slightly earlier model (the regular G73jh) with only 6 gb of ram. I really don't see how what you're saying is possible. Edited December 29, 2013 by SalamanderAnder

I recently reformatted my computer about two or three months ago. Looks like I'm due for another one, I guess.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) 1747 Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) Very weird. I don't think I've even formatted mine since I bought it, lol. Have you checked your temps while playing? It's possible (actually quite probable) that the thermal paste in your components has broken down by now and heat transfer from your cpu and gpu is not doing so well. That could be contributing to the problem. I run mine with an additional fan base thingy and a regular little electric fan blowing straight onto the keyboard and the intake vents. Unfortunately this is a common problem with gaming laptops. What is your average FPS? Edited December 29, 2013 by SalamanderAnder

Inokuma 1 Posted December 29, 2013 The hell does this mean: "but I can't even play this game" Can you be specific at all?I figured you would understand what I meant. Sorry. I meant that the FPS drops so low that it becomes really hard to play. It's almost like a slideshow. my PC is slows at times when i fill my ram from having to many chrome tabs open filling my memory, simple fix for me is closing the tabs perhaps you're also playing with other applications open such as me?After closing Chrome and getting drivers straight from AMD, I was able to boost it up to 30-48~ average, and 24+ in cities. Still feels really awkward to look around, but it's playable.
