Can't chamber the mosin?

ok so just found a mosin and I have the rounds needed for it 7.62, and whenever I go to chamber a round it says it won't fit? now the other places I checked say you don't need a mag to use the rounds. I tried do it while I still had the gun holstered and my ammo in the my pack...

You can load a few, just take the Mosin in your hands switch to inventory and drag the bullets on an empty square beneath it then hit the reload key and normally your character should start loading the gun.

 

Also what the guy above said if that is the problem ^^

just finished getting her loaded thanks guys and yes it was the box XD

kk so she's load and ready to go only problem is I'm not sure where to go next I'm some where in Cherno and I want to avoid the two apartment complexes on my way north would like the area to be as open as possible like along a tree line so I don't have to worry about people in elevated positions.

It doesn't matter in the end everybody shares the same destiny. You can only buy some time.
