sweaper 0 Posted December 28, 2013 So I have a m4a1 and I'm just practicing using it the now. When I am prone however, my bullets seem to be hitting the ground directly in front of me instead of 200 m in the distance. When i crouch I have no problem. If it helps, my M4A1 layout: -Suppressor 556 (worn)-ATLAS Bipod (pristine)-ACOG Optics test (pristine)-M4 Buttstock CQB (pristine)-M4 Handguard MP (worn)-30Rnd STANAG (coupled) (pristine) P.S. I have tried the search function but could not find any similar problems, sorry if this is obvious!
CGNoodlePot (DayZ) 149 Posted December 28, 2013 Are you shooting in first person view?

It might be because your weapon barrel is lower than your scope, the same happens if you are shooting over lets say a window that you can barely see over using the sights. Your scope is zeroed in on maybe 3-400 meters, the realism of this game makes your bullet go out of your barrel and not your scope :)

I'll find a steeper slope when prone to rectify the problem. Thank you very, very much :)
ClassifyLP 61 Posted December 28, 2013 It seems like a bug, not applied realism. If you watch people that have that problem, their weapon barrel is not in the ground.

I was standing on a control tower once with my M4A1 with my bypod deployed and I kept shooting the ground so I had to move closer to the roof edge to be able to hit anything I was shooting. Nanoha 37 Posted December 28, 2013 This is Arma for you, I shoot the ground at times also (when using the sights). I wish they had Arma3 funky different stance mechanism as this would alleviate the problem. A lot of the time I don't even hit the ground on DayZ while prone, I hit like some magic invisible force field a few cm above the ground instead.
verlorene haufe 1 Posted December 30, 2013 It is bug crap, actually hit the ground while aiming with the mosin at a guy whilst crouched today, with iron sights as well
EroticOstrich 0 Posted February 21, 2014 It's a bug though the developers are aware of the issue.
haviv[3rdid] 57 Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) It could be a bug but check this picture (dslyecxi) If the bore line is not clear (such as a mound or a branch), you won't hit the target even though your line of sight to target is clear because the lines are at different heights. You can see this in actionhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEV56yd8gn0around 43 minutes Edited February 25, 2014 by Benjamin
dusty_nuttles 130 Posted February 26, 2014 There is nothing anyone but a deb can do to fix it. I get this standing up as well. Its really a game breaker.
BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted February 26, 2014 Yes, it is a wellknown bug happening when shooting while standing on sloping ground. As stated can occur when crouched or standing up as well and has nothing to do with gear or bad aim or any of those things. From the bug feedback it sounds like slopes are not currently implemented correctly on the map, but apparently functions more like steps (or something similar) in the mechanics, causing these weird effects to happen if you are situated the wrong place. KarmaCoin 72 Posted February 26, 2014 It seems like a bug, not applied realism. If you watch people that have that problem, their weapon barrel is not in the ground. I think it is a bug. I've had it happen while crouched. Usually after having just had the problem while prone.
