DeadlyNerd 0 Posted December 27, 2013 I've noticed that the game has "crouch" and "stand up" hotkeys. First thing I thought : "Well that's pretty redundant. Can't we just have the crouch hotkey work in reverse when player is crouched?"Later, after I experienced how utterly useless building windows are as I can never see past the frame, due to character height, I thought this whole crouch and stand up deal could have some merit. This might already be planned but I'd just like to make sure. How about implementing a gradual crouch and standing up mechanic so that one can slowly descend into crouch by holding the key, double tap or some other hotkey for a quick descent, and the same for standing up. Shalom 2 Posted December 27, 2013 This was my first thought when I started playing Arma 2 and the DayZ Mod, but now I wouldnt change the hotkeys anymore.I like it how it is.
Isaaq 72 Posted December 28, 2013 You get used to it very fast, I think it's a better system, really. DayZ's controls can be a bit difficult to get used to, but they make everything faster and easier once you are used to them.
enforcer1975 1111 Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) I don't know how many players use the ArmA 3 crouch system but for the time i played nobody really seemed to bother about the difference degrees of crouch since you never really had the time to use them unless you had a couple of minutes to set up a camp under a tree or on top of a hill and rain bullets on your enemy. The environment was just too dynamic to hold a button and press another until you had your height. On the other hand i saw a couple ( not much really ) of players including me using urban prone which would be a good addition imo. It's just too bad you can stand on your toes like you can do in ArmA 3 but i don't think that would help you look "over the edge" of a window since you can't really lean out of it and shoot like IRL.The current system is still quite good, you can stand up from prone with said button and go from crouch to stand and back with the crouch button. You just have to understand what the buttons do. During my time from OFP to ArmA 3 my only wish was gradual crouching, too bad it doesn't work with TrackIR to finetune the basic stances. AP_Norris 1018 Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) I like the Arma 3 system TBH, I like the seated shooting position as you had gun support and hight above the grass :)Sure it could be quicker... But, really in reality civilians don't just jump to the ground, ready to shoot 123... In most cases you find your stance before even taking aim.Maybe in a combat scenario, but in this combat scenario you should want to save ammo. Thats anoher problem of the game...expertise...everyone runs around magpul style, knows every stance can do it flawlessly and reload guns in a fraction of a second while IRL we would have a variety of those or let's just say untrained civilians ( people who have never gone beyond basic gun handling which would be the majority ) will not be as good as in the game. The game focused too much on these parts and less to none on the survival aspect if you can call having to eat and drink a feature.
