How MOUT has changed (Military Operations in Urban Terrain)

Recommended Posts

I knew they were going to be adding way more buildings that you can enter in the SA and all I could think is "awesome I can loot so much more". Now that I am playing the SA (and not the mod) I noticed how much urban combat has really changed. Cities used to be pretty mundane with long stretches of buildings you can't enter. Now every building (seems like 95% at least) can be entered. Most have multiple doors so you can go in one way and come out another. Trying to fight basically came down to running around buildings trying to get the drop on the other guy. Avoiding the buildings with roofs you can go on, and the few buildings with windows. It is absolutely fantastic to have the ability to go into all different buildings, roof tops are really becoming death sentences now.

Anyway, is anyone else really enjoying this aspect of the game now? It may not be Staligrad, Berlin or Chechnya but it is a whole lot more fun than ModZ was in that aspect.

Yea this is one of my favorite aspects over the mod. With so many floors and rooms when you hear footsteps you don't think "He is about to come in this door I'm aiming at", its "Where the f*ck is this guy".

I tend to crouch walk a lot more inside buildings and avoid staying in open view of a window. CQB training kicked in pronto after clearing a couple houses and towns.

@deceasedPath and @ Zogvarn I agree 100%. So much more fun now. I almost always crouch while clearing buildings. A guy shot at me from behind the hospital yesterday while I was searching it, I managed to get out of the room before he shot me though. Then I was able to run across the street and "vanish" (into the many buildings not log out) before he could get around the hospital. Next thing you know I am in a third story window overlooking a building he is looting and as he goes out onto the roof I got him.

SA is worth it just because of those massive new buildings.

I am already having fantasies about sitting up there in one of the 200 apartments in a warm ghillie suit, screwing a silencer on my sniper rifle on a tripod, and peering down on Cherno, looking for campers. Bonus props if they create a suitcase with a disassembled sniper rifle.

Oh yeah, I agree.

We were a group of three just browsing the area and looting, us three were in a big barn with highrise. One of us went outside and got shot at. came right back in. The other guy didnt know we were three (I think or else he would have run away).

All three of us were fully packed, locked and loaded, two M4's and one sniper.

We locked down the barn from the inside and the guy made a mistake by trying to get in the barn, because we had a spot on him running around the barn and the moment he stuck his head around the corner...there was only one shot, one body hit the ground and us three popped a can and celebrated.

Or me and a friend on top of a hospital having a 'safe; snack and all of a sudden a guy comes climbing up the ladder and started punching me, it didn't take long for him to drop to the ground with an axe in his back by my friend wich he didnt see (I think)
