AnarchoN 6 Posted December 27, 2013 I Think it would be really cool and nice if there was aggresive animals in Dayz. I Heard that they are going to add animals and such, but I mean more like grizzly bears or wolfs that could attack you. That would make it more of a challenge in the Woods, Instead of just quiet safe Forests.

Day Unit 18 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) With them there has to be a takedown animation. There has to be, no counter move from the Human when they're upon us. Realistically when these predators pounced onto a human, there's no melee fight with the Human, you'd just be dead with a super muscular giant jaw fetched onto your destroyed body. Quickly blocking the airways once you're down. Split seconds. Lions, tigers, puma, jaguar, leopard, cheetah, etc. The animation description I have is for those. With a bear you'd scream for awhile while they stumble around, putting their weight on you, and starts getting mutiliated. CGNoodlePot (DayZ) 149 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) What I would suggest also are OPPORTUNIST animals. Lets say you kill a rabbit then suddenly, a coyote or hyena comes to the scene and literally steals your food from you! So you are forced to shoot the thief animal too or chase out the thief before you get the prey. Edited December 27, 2013 by CGNoodlePot
Day Unit 18 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) What I would suggest also are OPPORTUNIST animals. Lets say you kill a rabbit then suddenly, a coyote or hyena comes to the scene and literally steals your food from you! So you are forced to shoot the thief animal too or chase out the thief before you get the prey. You can't chase out a pack of hyena. That's the beauty of it. Unless you have torches or you fire gunshots. There'd be more strategy, mind games in the hunting, more observing, you need to see if there's a group of hyena lurking nearby or moving towards the direction, how close are they? If you kill the prey now, would you be able to loot it and get on your horse and ride away before they arrive? You'd need to have good timing. Animals that are physically better than us, in an apocalyptic world, is another threat, another challenge for the survivors. The Mad Titan 29 Posted December 27, 2013 There needs to be more animals. There needs to be animals that will attack if threatened (bears and wolves). Russia does have a bear problem, farmers getting attacked by bears (http://www.badassoftheweek.com/index.cgi?id=9634649523). Zombie animals would be cool, but one step at a time here. We need to start with getting more animals in the game, I've played for 30+ hours now and I've seen a bunny one time.

wisser253 0 Posted January 1, 2014 I dont think it is a good idea to add zombie animals, rather hunting simulation is the way to go. Many of the virtual hunting community are aspiring for hunting simulation in Dayz, it has perfect grounds for that plus the ballistics are great for long range hunting. It can be even greater if they add a hunting simulation mode for this game, where you can select rifles, crossbows, ... where you wont meet zombies, ... Isaaq 72 Posted January 1, 2014 Assuming the animals aren't all zombies, they actually aren't that likely to attack... Bears rarely attack unless you stand between them and their cubs - and wolves will often give warning nips and the likes - until you piss them off too much and they attack you... People keep wolves as pets. I think that having these animals would be awesome - and they could have the possibility of attacking you, but they should act realistically. Would also be awesome to have feral dogs and cats - and, once bases are implemented, having the opportunity to capture one and re-train it. How cool would it be to have a dog run with you - or, better yet, a wolf. They'd also be high risk, high reward... Dogs and wolves can smell people and warn you long before - but when training them, you can get bitten - and cause bleeding and illness.
PracticalTactical 164 Posted January 1, 2014 Rabid dogs! That would be cool!
doublebrain 255 Posted January 2, 2014 Yes to aggresive animals (as they are confirmed already anyway) no to zomb-imals (and Im pretty sure Deans feels the same about that). But keep in mind we are in Chernarus here... so no lions, elephants or unicorns.
