What sacrifices would you accept to help Dayz Sa performance?

Recommended Posts

Dayz sa runs at around 30-50 fps on my computer (sometimes it jitters a little) but alot people say they have less and some run ok.

I know BiS are planning on adding alot more to Dayz sa, but it seems to me that the perfomance will get worse unless sacrifices are made. (unless they have some tricks up their sleeves lol)

To help Dayz sa run smoother what would you take out (or lower the resolution) the game to improve the performance?

Lower the cloud resolution or take them out? (look so nice and help with the emersion)

Decrease the draw distance? (would be a shame, not seen another game with as far as this got)

Less loot (especially in the big cities)

Less zombies (not sure how could be less atm lol)

Any ideas?

I suppose I would be okay with sacrificing some shiny graphics, I already play on a low end pc, so it won't make much of a difference to me.

I would be most happy with sacrificing time, though. I'm willing to wait a good long time for them to optimize the game, rather than losing view distance for example.

Good question.

Think view distance is the last thing i would want to lower, it looks so cool, never seen any other game with that kind of view distance.

Gives you a sense of the map size when you can see buildings very far in the distance.

Many times i have stopped and gazed at the scenery in cherarus and though "wow that looks so cool"

I do not really need to sacrifice anything. I have killed my post-process blurriness and blominess to make things clear, and it also really annoys me.

As development moves on, so will how well optimized the game is. If more PC intensive things are implemented, the devs are sure to spend some time on optimization so everybody can run the game who used to be able to.

At this point I'm running the game just fine except for some half second freezes here and there when I enter cities. Not even enough to be an issue, though. I think as they crank up the zombie numbers and loot I could probably just drop the quality a bit. Clouds would be the first to go, then some of the other higher end graphic choices, then textures, then finally resolution down to 1680. Most of the things that players would be willing to sacrifice should be menu options. I hope that they could find enough ways to increase performance through optimizations, (not much in at this point), that it won't be an issue once zombies and types of loot get their increases.

It just needs more optimization like 30-40 in citys. Then last night I was pulling just over 100 near Veresnik. Go figure?
