Zones of No-logging.

Recommended Posts

I think loot hopping is a big issue. There is no way for honest play to compete with people logging into hot-loot spots every 5mins and checking for gear.

Would there be any way to implement a no-logout zone? In other words... You couldn't log out in buildings? Or make these zones move a player into the wilderness on their respawn.

It could even be separated into zones... If you logout in No-Log Zone A (SE Map quadrant), you spawn in wilderness A(SE Map quadrant).

Just my idea of how to fix the issue without blocking players from being ABLE to play or imposing some timer that would inadvertently affect those of us who have to quicklog sometimes for real life.

No.

Thunderstorm takes out my internet in a 'No Logging' area. What happens then? Does my character not log out? Do I insta-die?

What happens if the server loses connection to the internet, but remains active and a large portion are disconnected in no-log areas? Do they just insta-die when that character reconnects to the hive? Do they insta-die while in other servers?

If it moves us into log-in zones in the wild, what happens when people start camping these zones for easy targets logging in?

This has been thought about over and over again. There isn't much the devs can do.

No, because you can still get gear just fine. I have never had a problem with hoppers ruining any drops for me aside from the ones that fence off entrances so I have no chance to even check. There's never going to be a good system for stopping them unless the loot drops are actually spread out and unrandomized a little bit so that people don't have to roll a dice and hope they get something. That's the reason most people do it anyways, as far as I can say.

This.

In the current state its not possible to stop loot hoping. Its an inherent flaw in the model that, as i see it, can only be solved by having all servers run the same instance of the world.

I feel like you didn't read my post. If you logged out in the no-login zone... You would spawn randomly in the wilderness in the general area that you logged out. You wouldn't die. There would be no insta-death.

In the thunderstorm situation this would actually be a good thing... You wouldn't have to log blindly into a hot zone.

Who says these would be small zones? I'm talking huge wilderness zones to randomly spawn in... Would be pretty hard to camp. In fact, it would literally be like camping in the wilderness AS IT IS NOW and hoping for someone to randomly spawn in front of you.

The funny thing about forums is that people don't really read what you write.

This would fix it.
