Straightforward Banditry Solution

Recommended Posts

Mark bandits on the map. This let's bandits seek out other bandits for PvP while letting under-equipped players avoid them. Moreover, it provides enough of a disincentive for people who would otherwise kill on sight.

Maybe it would only trigger after a prodigious drop in humanity, so only the worst of the worst would be marked. Once their humanity goes back up, via killing zombies or transfusions or whatever, they're unmarked.

Thoughts?

God damn... SO MANY STUPID SUGGESTIONS ARE POPPING UP!

Its like every time someone gets killed, they want the reason they get killed removed, or changed.

Grow some fucking balls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously you carebears are pissing me and everyone else off. ITS NOT GOING TO CHANGE!

If it were only limited

Awful idea. Why the hell would bandits be marked on the map?

If this were limited to only the worst of the worst, let's say, then it'd work similar to a bounty system. Combat-averse people with maps could give the guy a wide berth, while the more adventurous could try and hunt him down.

It's a little gamey, yeah, but I think getting a posse together to hunt down a mass murder would be fun.

While OP makes a carebare suggestion, you are missing the point. We arent whining about getting killed. You should watch the video on the front page of the dayz website to reassess what rocket wants this game to be.

This is what you claim, yet you make retard suggestions. Nothing is going to be done to stop banditry, fucking deal with it. Want to form a posse and hunt down the bandit? MAKE ONE AND DO IT! Nothing is stopping you, to have a map marker will just ruin it

Far too gamey for my liking. If anything, DayZ needs to push for more immersive realism.

At first I thought this was a suggestion for cooperative actions amongst "survivors" to mark bandit spots and I thought it was a nice idea and effort. But then I realized it was a suggestion to make it automatic.

So no, but you survivors should consider marking spots like this.

I shoot on sight like pretty much 95% of this forum. I literally just created an account to discuss suggestions, not have gif-vomit thrown at me, or fifteen-year-old mil-sim toads bitch me out on an assumption I don't like PvP.

You don't like the idea, that's fine. It was an idea. I'm just trying to cultivate discussion.

I had the same gif posted in my thread, I just copy pasted it. You hit the nail on the head with "fifteen-year-old mil-sim toads bitch me out on an assumption I don't like PvP."

They're abundant.

So, does the bandit attach some kind of GPS transponder to his vest , broadcast the frequency (on radios we don't have), we plug that into a tracking device (that we don't have), and he hopes that noone notices what he is doing?

Please, explain to me how this works.

I'm going to shoot you on the spot next time :P.

Leaving murdering and looting in the game, thats half of the awesome sauce.

So let me back up a second and state that this post was made on the assumption that Rocket is experimenting with ways to incentivize cooperation. Or at the very least, prevent bean wars.

He's removed starting gear and beefed up zombies to that end. Why would this be so awful to try for a week?

The problem with ideas like this, IMO, is that every single one is about some kind of automatic divine intervention adverse affect against banditry. Everyone keeps suggesting these stupid ideas as if the "Hand of God" is going to reach out of the sky and punish these heretics for their murderous ways! The fact of the matter, again IMO, is you're not thinking pro-actively. Maybe suggest that friendly survivors can set up a sort of bulletin board and leave a note with banditry information, maybe eventually friendly survivors can build useful fortifications around a campsite and potentially create a player town, maybe suggest some kind of trap you could arm before you die (manually) that would mark the next person with paint or something that tried to loot your corpse, blah blah blah you get the idea.

TL;DR - too many "Hand of God" suggestions, too little pro-active thinking.

Why the fuck does banditry need a solution? That implies that banditry is a problem.

Stop trying to impliment unrealistic solutions to a problem you can easily just grow up about.

So yeah , pretty bad suggestion.

I don't know, the same way you can fit a sniper rifle in a back pack. Or how zombies punch your through walls. Or how not all buildings are enterable. Or how you can fit the main helicopter rotor assembly into a backpack. Or how you can't chop down a tree in the middle of a field. Or how it's impossible to over or under cook meat.

Situation 1: I was ambushed, I manage to kill my attackers and what now, every one will hunt me, for self defense?

Situation 2: Me and my fiend running from Zeds, I stop and start killing Zeds and my friend runs in the line of fire and I kill him, by accident, and what now, every one will hunt me, for this tragic accident?

Guess it would depend on your humanity. I think Rocket is still tracking all of our characters' humanity levels, so if all of your attackers were survivors, then yeah, you'd take a hit. But assuming you haven't been offing survivors as you come across them and you were regularly killing zombies, you'd be fine.

Even then, this bounty system would only kick in for the top 10% of bandits, like the worst of the worst. -12k humanity, or whatever number.

So you are ok, with death penalty for self defense?

Isn't this a Post apocalyptic reality simulator?

Your suggestion reminds me "Lineage 2", Korea'n MMORPG. If you kill some one, and he doesn't shoot back, you become a PKiller with red "NameTag" and in order to clear your "name" you must farm "mobs" or die, even Korea`ns wasn't showing on the map PKillers, just a red "NameTag".
