The ability to hold 2 guns

I was coming out of Cherno when I ran into a pack of 2 guys, they fired first and I managed to pick one of them off as they were running into the position while the other combat logged.

Anyways I went to go loot the guy and he had a mosin in his hands and an M4 apart of his inventory.

Does anyone know how he managed to have 2 weapons? I couldn't figure it out quick enough before his body disappeared.

He was carrying one in his gun slot and the other in his hands. The drawback to this is that you would drop the one in your hands every time you used an object or climbed a ladder, etc.
