So far I've found the DayZ Standalone to be a significantly more entertaining experience than the mod, and that's saying something because I loved the mod. The biggest issue I've encountered is the lack of information out on the game & the inconsistency of the information. I've read guides on game mechanics that are totally false. This is going to get people that are looking to survive the apocalypse killed in a hurry. I'm going to lead with a few sites that I've found very useful and accurate. Anyone else with good resources please post them!

Here's a really good video showing how effective you can be with your fists versus an armed player, provided you have the element of surprise.

For Android users..

I use my mobile to run the map whilst playing. The guys at Dayz Central have just released the best looking SA companion for your phone. 

Lots of info about weapons, items, disases, the lot. Very good app and the best mobile one I've lookedt at.
