Pistols, shotguns, and hunting rifles should be what you find on coast

Recommended Posts

And pistols should be like 50% of the weapons in the game and shotguns/hunting rifles like 30%. The few fire fights i've gotten into in which we were both armed with hand guns were so much fun. I hope in the final game assault rifles become very rare.

No ? Lee enfield isn't that OP, and it's less OP than m4 that everyone can get in 15 secs after spawning

Yeah, but the percentage that would have aquired one would be equal to the probability of running into that very person. I think it's a good idea.

Dunno, that gun was very OP in the mod. 1 shot kill? More precise than anything with a very small bullet drop? I loved that gun to hell and back.

But i do agree with the idea that military weapons should be very rare and ammo hard to find. Having thermal vision or 50 cal rifles is not exactly survival-ish.

Thats what troubles me the most, there seems to be way more military spawns than in the mod, not sure how they are going to balance that, but i guess they had that in mind and have some sort of a plan

Funny tough that u can find M4 so easy, when the russians never realy used ''western'' weapons that much.. Should be AK at least.. But then again the loot is not finshed :)

what kind of pump actions are confirmed we are getting right now? if the shotguns are actually good, i feel like that would basically be my weapon of choice most of the time. (assuming hunting scopes and stuff are able to be put on it)

I assume that M4s are the most common assault rifle because story wise, American forces came. Or non story wise, its more visually appealing and "cool" than an ak.

IIRC, we don't know yet the backstory of DayZ SA. It don't need to be same as in mod. These M4 may belong to defense forces of Chernarus.

I agree on everything except the ratio of the weapons. I don't need 5 kinds of the same caliber pistol. I like AK's, Dragunovs, PKR's. It's almost certain all of those will be in the game, probably also PKP and western variants as Rocket mentioned they want an international arsenal so they could port them over to other maps not set in a former Soviet state. But none of these should be findable at the coast, or only have a very small chance of appearing. I liked the old Balota of the mod, now it's just way overboard.

It is VERY hard to find the "Western" Weaponry in Russia. Also, we, unlike americans, aren't as crazy about the handguns (a.k.a pistols).

http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9A%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%B3%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%8F:%D0%9F%D0%B8%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%B5%D1%82%D1%8B_%D0%A0%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%81%D0%B8%D0%B8

That's about all the pistols for Russia, unlike the CRAZY amount of them from U.S . And mostly, people would be having a "Traumatic" weapons for self defense, instead of lethal ones that the military has. I know that Chernarus is a fictional town, and isn't meant to represent Russian city, but if we were to talk about any kind of realism, M4 should be a "One of a kind" to find.

Should be just melee weapons on the coast, maybe the odd gun in someones house under their bed if you're lucky. Moving into the map you find hunting rifes, shot guns in farmers houses, maybe in a barn. Hidden.

Then as you get to the big air fields and bases you can find better gear.

I'd much rather have all military loot protected by lots of military zombies. Like the old heli crash sites.  And have them be random spawns like the helis. Rather than run to NW airfield and get all your gear.

Also be awesome if there was some kinda big mutant zombies or monster that hunts survivors. Killing it would drop some nice loot.

Military hardware needs to be extremely difficult to find.  Only 5% of total weapons/equipment throughout the loot population.

I concur that M4A1s are far too available at the moment. I'm sure this will sort itself out as more weaponry is added to the loot tables. In the meantime, I'll enjoy my silenced M4 with scope and bipod.
