Sick = Death logic (if you don't have antibiotics).

Recommended Posts

In my opinion this is one of the majors issues that should be changed.

The DayZ SA runs now a infection system that just doesn't make any sense - for me.

The probability of getting infected is TOO, but TOO high, and also, every time you get infected (sick) it's like a death sentence - and your way out is finding antibiotics. Otherwise you will die.

It's like you don't have any kind of immune system: you drink water from water ponds, eat a rotten or "damaged" food (attention to this point. Food can be damaged just by getting hit in a fight, but you can't eat it because you might get infected... Logic?) and you get infected, you get some water from a river and get infected... Really, I know the water there is not really clean, but I don't think drinking from there will get you killed after a couple of minutes/hours/whatever.

Really.

I only eat pristine food, try to drink clean water (not sure if it's clean because I think that "water cleaner" inside the medic kit is bugged), keep my self well-fed but one hour or another it showes up: "Sick", and after some time I get unconscious and die. So... I gave up. I gave up trying to find antibiotics. Every time I get sick I simply kill myself because I know I am gonna die anyways, that's just a matter of time of getting killed by it.

What are your thoughts about it guys?

I noticed when I had 'food poisoning' from eating a rotten fruit the alcohol tincture made it go away slowly. I also noticed that when I used the alcohol tincture to clean my wounds while not sick, I became sick but slowly got better. Not sure whats going on there but certainly we are misunderstanding/over complicating the sickness system and/or something is broken.

There are other ways to prevent death by sickness. You can find an epi pen, give yourself saline or blood bag, or antibiotics. They are not hard to find. If you're having problems, then you might wanna research where they spawn. Now the saline and blood bag will replenish your health as you continue to search for meds. They won't cure you. I recommend taking vitamins as well to boost your immune system.

Actually avoiding sickness is not that hard.

I am alive since the character wipe and have not gotten sick since then.

Just dont drink water from ponds, you dont have to anyway since there are plenty of wells all over the map.

Dont get hit by zombies at all, just be very very sneaky and avoid them until you have a fireaxe or a firearm.

Dont eat rotten fruit or badly damaged fruit, if you only eat canned food you will not get sick.

I have eat badly damaged canned food all the time and have not gotten sick in days.

And if you  do get sick, it's not a death sentence since antibiotics are not THAT hard to come by, they can spawn everywhere even though the chance of finding them in civilian buildings is very low.

If you have food poisoning and are already starting to loose health you are in a very bad spot though, and you WILL loose a lot of health in the process.

Just keep yourself well fed and hydrated all the time, eat vitamins if you have them and hope you have a friend who can give you a saline IV once its over.

It will go away after a while.

How is anyone getting sick? Do you perhaps gobble up every rotten vegetable you can find and wash it down with bleach? Or maybe you try to kill zombies by making out with them?

-Wells are clean atm, so are all the canteens, and soda cans.

-Canned food never gives you any sickness, nor do fresh fruits

-antibiotics(and other medical supplies) are rather common, if people would just be arsed to enter residential buildings.

Head inland, find a town that isn´t looted every 2 mintues by a new spawn, profit.

If your wounds are dirty, it wont show the sick indicator until you apply the alcohol. Just grunts a lot.

I just found one of these and a friend of mine was frantically looking for antibiotics the other day for his sickness. Said he would log out and wait until one of found some so I'm assuming it's safe to use this on him?

...

I haven´t found a way to administer anything from those vials, and most likely that wouldn´t help with any actual disease, the bottle says it´s sodiumbikarbonate, aka baking powder. At most it could help in case of acidosis from chemical poisoning or other sources.

Yeah that's why I thought I'd ask first before poisoning him haha. I googled the substance but wasn't sure

I think he got sickness from a zombie

I think you can use the vial with syringes. I have found plenty of empty syringes and it says it needs some shit.

You can get over being sick really simply without antibiotics. It's called resting and taking care of yourself. Seriously, if you are sick eat plenty of food, drink lots of fluids, don't run around panting like a dog all the time. Go a bit slower, rest when you start breathing heavy. Taking vitamins seems to help as well. After a while of making sure you are full(not, I am no longer starving for 5 minutes) and taking it easy the sickness will go away.

You nailed it. I have only been playing SA for about a week. But I have only gotten sick 1 time. It was the first few days and I wanted to test some stuff out so I literally ate all the rotten fruit I could find. Eventually I got sick. I didn't find any meds but drank plenty (10+ times every well I found) and ate everything I could find (except the rotten fruit). The sickness went away pretty fast. Now I don't eat the rotten stuff and try not to dance with the dead and seem to be ok.

Same here...managed to overcome the sickness

Eat a lot...drink a lot...get some rest(F3) and if possible get some vitamins...

To avoid gettin sick...what he said

Also, even if you got some melee weapons try to be carefull and dont fight the infected unless its necessary

The last time i got sick I ate a whole bottle of vitamins along with plenty of food and water and slowly got better. I'm not sure if i needed to eat all of them because they seem to very slowly make you better but I did get better eventually (about 30-40 mins game time).
