Frost20 20 Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) This has been brought to my attention as a solution with a lot of potential. The server switch timer, the punishments for changing servers, these are all very iffy. The only thing that can work is if rocket regulates hives into a maximum of about 4-5 servers. BUT... I have heard that there is a system in the works to have a maximum of loot across all servers, but in the meantime, maybe something like this could be implemented, it would not be nearly as hard and can bandage the problem in a very effective way. Blood and guts of this system would go something like... Hives of about 5 servers. Stick with a hive.. Change Hives and you get reset. PROS: -Effectively stems the amount of blatant server hopping-Keeps players closer together, more repeat interactions CONS: -Low/high player count per hive could cause issues-The most lowly, vomit inducing nerds could essentially buy multiple copies to server hop systematically, but i doubt this would happen in-mass Edited December 24, 2013 by Frost20
Beck (DayZ) 1768 Posted December 24, 2013 -Low/high player count per hive could cause issues Five servers would NEVER work for this sole reason. Have you seen the player counts recently?

Mallow88 110 Posted December 24, 2013 I liked the old method of every server saved your character separately. So you switch servers, your character starts over. You go BACK to the previous server, and your character on that server is maintained. I'm imagining this is how it's going to be solved, seeing as how this was what the mod turned into, essentially.

Mallow88 110 Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) What's the purpose again? Being able to server hop so you don't have to walk to the next city? Yea, that's kinda the point to defeat that. Edited December 24, 2013 by Mallow88

The official public hive was always together. What you're mentioning is private hives. Which from my understanding, there should be a -few- on DayZ SA from what I've seen. Also, I think it would cost a lot more to have almost every server on a different hive, or a group of a few servers on different hives.
