Server Time in Server Browser

Recommended Posts

Before you read, know that I'm new to DayZ. I never played the Mod but followed it, I was just never much of an Arma guy so I never had it to play. Now that the game is standalone, I'm thrilled to be involved! However, as with all Alphas, changed and tweaks need to be made and I'm all for that.

One minor suggestion/idea I had I wanted to post here: Server Time in the Server Browser

Now, I don't believe this would be "game breaking" or hurt the game in anyway. In fact, I truly believe it may improve it 10-fold! Think about it, servers die out when they go dark anyway. When you're first logging in, unless you only play ONE server, you're typically server jumping looking for a daytime. Well, even though we can't pull out a watch in game and check the time... I believe having a small display of the time of the server in the browser, would save people time and allow them to jump into a server they prefer.

I know that when I'm short on time, or when I first started... I didn't want to play at night. Since then I've played during the night once. Lol.

Just an idea from a new DayZer... let me know your thoughts guys and GLHF in game.

Well i still think that it's better to just unify time on all servers, so it doesn't matter to know how late it is on the server, because it's the same time on all servers.

Fair for users who play regardless of day/night. Unfair for users who only enjoy the game during daytime hours (real life restricts your ability to play the game during day time hours dependent on your occupation/timezone).

Unifying the time across all servers would create issues for those in timezones across the world. Players would be expected to play at strange hours and therefore, wouldn't play because of their sleep schedule, work, school, etc.

Having a small server time in the browser, would eliminate this and make it so when you are about to play - you could play WHEN you prefer (server time-wise, that is).
