Thorn (DayZ) 2 Posted June 22, 2012 Let me start out by saying that I'm in a way a bandit so dont flame me :P. Alright so I was thinking that when a bandit kills someone, maybe there nerves could get going or there conscience. So if they shoot down a survivor, it could cause there breathing to get louder and deeper. After one kill it would only go for so long and you can either wait it out or take a anxiety pill to calm it down. Maybe it could get worse at certain times like if its the first murder in that life. I like this idea because it would be to much of a punishment but it would add some realism and wont completly ruin the bandits experience. Theres many ways this could be improved and added onto so go ahead and post your two cents on it.
Turin (DayZ) 3 Posted June 22, 2012 Trying to simulate human reactions / emotions like that in a video game can sometimes come across as more gimmicky than realistic... especially if it's deliberately added with the intention of punishing the player. I guess it's something they could look at testing out though.
Haplo (DayZ) 44 Posted June 22, 2012 i really don't see the need to differentiate between bandits and survivors.this is the kind of game that gets your heart going and sometimes your actions can have a pretty big effect on emotion. say a guy was a bandit, but then something happened that caused him to reconsider his playing style, he should be able to make that decision there and then. if we have have some kind of imbalance like this then that simple beauty is lost. XzB3A57zX 1 Posted June 22, 2012 If this were added there would have to be a way to differentiate between self defense and murder. I shouldn't be punished for killing someone who shoots at me or threatens me.
logan23 118 Posted June 22, 2012 I say let's see what the DayZ team has instore with social/team building - settlements before we try to attack bandits. There is a good chance some of this will be resolved with content like this and side tasks.
Thorn (DayZ) 2 Posted June 22, 2012 I see your point the title could be misleading a little. But it doesnt only differ the bandits. It wouldnt distinguish bandits from survivors either. After killing someone I feel the character should start to shake a bit due to the nerves. It could also introduce new medicine for anxiety. After a while I feel like this should wear off (After a few murders). Because then the player would begin to get use to being a bandit and such. Its just a small suggestion to make things more realistic.
Haplo (DayZ) 44 Posted June 22, 2012 gotta remember that right now, killing someone only counts as self defense if they inflict bullet damage first, regardless of whether or not they shot at you beforehand
Champloo (DayZ) 5 Posted June 22, 2012 Morality is a player choice. Not the game's simulation. I often feel bad for shooting people even though I'm a KoSER, but I really don't see how anyone ISN'T a KoSer. Today I killed this poor guy who probably didn't have a clue about the game, he was just prone getting into the store we were raiding, probably hoping we were gone. I only killed him really because I had no idea what he was doing, he could have been a scout for a bigger group, just some poor bastard looking for food, a newbie desperately trying to forage his way through the world, or something else. I don't know what his deal was, all he had was an axe, but I still had to shoot him. I don't want to shoot everyone but the guys I know, but it's the only way of dependable survival I have.TL;DR People can feel bad about killing others if they want to. It doesn't need to be the game's automatic decision
lunaraitic 0 Posted June 22, 2012 Really im curious why everyone wants to punish bandits. Quit playing a zombie mod on a fps game if you don't want to be killed by other players. Better yet keep playing the game and just stop complaining and trying to Kill play styles that don't conform with what you think should be the play style for Dayz. ZomboWTF 527 Posted June 22, 2012 i say keep it as it is now, maybe let us see who killed someone and if he was killed by a player at all to be cautious, but a marker for "this guy killed a player" and "this guy didnt kill a player" is ridiculous

They lose them role in the game cause bandits take it. Here's no way to play the game as a zombie survival cause all the players (even a newbie one or a veteran one) shoots on sight. Is that good?I don't think. It's about 2 months that I play DAYz, I've got alot of fun playing it, but now it's a little bad: when you spawn and run into a city you're dead 3 times on 4. So, what's the point of this? I see players sniping only for fun (I look them for a while ... and they kill without going to the corpse looking for something), in Elektro, killing noobs without equipment.I think this can make new player stop playing DAYz and this isn't a good idea. We've to suggest something to make the way of the bandit fun (as now) but with some consequence or we risk that players left the game.
