DayZ Standalone: What I don't get

So first of all let me say that the Early Access Alpha is much better than I thought it would be and it can already give me a vision on how the final game will be. The Unique Selling Proposition is right there.

 

But a few things are still unclear for me. As an example, the mod offered many objects in the beginning (binoculars, watch, etc..) I know that those equipments are from Arma 2 but still, why would you guys cut out stuff like Binoculars and watches from the early access build? I simply don't understand it. all it needs now is just a simple look-on-hand animation for the watch, maybe a new skin for it and thats it. this can be done in under a day. Same goes for the binoculars. Are they causing any problems with the new engine or what? I just don't understand and would like to get cleared up.

Most likely seen as "non essential" work atm. as more of the serious issues are resolved then we can expect to see out Bino's and watches back in. It's mainly new stuff they are focusing on atm.

I seriously doubt they're cutting binoculars and watches, it's probably just a case of having much more important things higher on the to-do list right now. They are a small team.

they're not reusing models. there most likely will be binocs and watches. it takes more than "a day"

I know they are like only half a dozen people. The game is more than popular right now and i bet the alpha already made (again) a LOT of money so why can't they hire a few more people in order to...you know....make the game go faster to final?

Simply throwing money at an problem will not give it an insta boost.

 

Recruitment in a company takes time and paperwork etc.

 

Regardless. Most likely the old items/mechanics were nott up to the new standard and are being remade specifically.

 

Expect to see little carried over from Arma/mod

it's a business, with accountants, budgets, contracts, payrolls, and all that. it's not like they're sitting around like "what do we do with this extra money?"

I think the more civilian nature of the SA offers a lot of opportunity for more variety with these sort of things. hopefully there's a few different watches. there could even be different binocs, and people have already suggested being able to use scopes as a monocular

There already a really good looking Soviet binoculars model, hope to see it in-game soon. This is an essential piece of survival equipment.

I have to admit. I didn't realise how much I used Binoculars until they were gone. Hope you can hang them around your neck (to save slots) and map it to the B Key again.

I hope they implement the watches like the new compass. I'd like an animation looking at my wrist. not just the UI watch from Arma

Because for last 12 months of development of Standalone devs probably spent 6 months creating the stupid compass with fancy animation.

Thing bugging me is how long it takes to get your compas out, takes like 2 seconds. Anyway what I mean to say is that I hope the standalone has gotten rid of them clunky arma-esk movement like standing still to switch weapons and such.
