Axes And our Guns

As we all know as of 1.7.1.5 we get axes on our tool belts and can be used as a weapon. I believe that have the axe as a PRIMARY weapon is a little too excessive. Not do to overpowering issues one might think but space.

First off, I have a Winchester and say it takes up 10 slots (Not to mention Ammo :dodgy:) of space in ones bag. Well due to a known issue/glitch/bug (whatever your fancy), if you don't have enough space in your bag to hold your weapon it disappears. Which can be a serious pain, and especially painful when its like a m1014 or a M16 etc.

Make The axes be equipped as sidearm, i rather deal with 4 bag spaces instead of 10. :-/

Have your primary switch its slot to the tool belt, where the axe resides and have the axe move primary and vice versa, as long as the axe, is equipped You cant drop it, or switch it with anything else, until you have it in your back in your tool belt and your primary back into your hands to minimize exploits. :)

Have your axe to be equipped separately, in a way that you pull out your weapon from your tool-belt where it resides while using

EX: I have a zombie in a house, shooting my gun is too loud. so i go to gear, down to tool belt and select equip on my axe, my shotgun goes to my back, not bag where the axe is now equipped in my hand, While the axes slot from my gear hasn't moved from its tool-belt slot. (could also be helpful for newly spawns to use flashlight). Also Have it so to have you cant equip your guns back or anything else until the axe has been unequipped to again, prevent exploits or even bugs. :D

I realize the coding 2-3 would be a pain in the ass, if even possible. But i would hope for it to be done so i don't have to worry about dropping my weapon in a loot pile every time i want to use my axe as a melee wep.

These are my suggestions, Got any better ones? :huh:

I sort of agree - if a small hatchet can be placed on the tool belt you should be able to access it and smash it in to a Zeds head. It shouldnt have to replace one of your weapons.

However a longer, more powerful, far reaching axe would be cumbersome and take the place of a weapon.

Maybe there's a way to "trick" ARMA into treating the Axe like a second primary weapon, like a rocket launcher, currently being occupied by the backpack. There are a number of standard ARMA soldier types with a default backpack, like the US Medic I think, over which can be placed a rocket launcher. Granted you can use that backpack, that's where the tricks come in (way beyond my humble scripting capabilities).

The idea would be to display the axe on you back, beside the backpack, and then when you wanted to use it, your rifle would go on your back and the axe would be in your hands.

Don't know if it's even possible, but there you go. Maybe ARMA3 supports this kind of crazy idea?
