I went through tons of work just to get a few decent pieces of gear only to be reset when I joined a new server. Definitely a bug.

Yep. I've had this happen a couple times. Golden rule: Don't get too attached to your gear! Good luck regearing and keep fighting the good fight.

It's a known issue where non-whitelisted servers are showing up when they shouldn't be. I just used a fresh span and hoped a couple dozen servers to see which saved my toon and which didn't, added the ones that did to my Favorites so I know they're safe. Best thing to do at the moment until they get the problem fixed. There's a thread going on the Troubleshooting forum listing safe servers.
