caboose_neg_1 24 Posted December 23, 2013 While I agree there should be some benefit to wearing certain Items, I also feel like instead of appearing the way I want to I am forced into wearing the best gear so I can hold what I need. Ex. would like to wear the 2 slot blue (hero like) shirt but feel forced into wearing the ttsko 6 slot shirt simply for the 4 extra slots. I believe I read a long time ago that they intend to add more clothing and am hoping that ^ this might somehow be addressed? maybe with multiple versions of same clothing with different carrying capacity?
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted December 23, 2013 Agreed, I usually keep the shirts I like and spend time searching for a load bearing vest to compensate. You need to look good in a post apocalypse setting otherwise no one will be friendly to you ;).
caboose_neg_1 24 Posted December 23, 2013 "You need to look good in a post apocalypse"You know it :D I was aiming more towards the ability to stand out and be an individual vs everyone looking the same in the Top Gear Simply for the matter of Space.

liquidcactus 719 Posted December 23, 2013 True.. A variety of slots for same kind of clothing is a good idea but maybe it could look "slightly" different.. hmmm...

eleventhavenue 204 Posted December 23, 2013 In my opinion looking like a Gud Komrade beats getting 4 extra slots. For the same reason I choose a trapper's hat over a ballistic helm.Really, with a 35-slot backpack, 2 or 4 extra slots really do not matter that much. So far, I've never been KOS'ed, and several times have I, on my own, met a group of armed people and I could convince them to leave me alone.
Bororm 1156 Posted December 23, 2013 I completely agree, and I've been just wearing the starting jeans and a flannel shirt lately. I don't even use a backpack. I use a protector case when I can and put a couple extra items in there and stick it in my pants. I call it my lunch box, and I think it's hilarious to have to pull it out to get anything out of it, it's fun. But I totally agree that there needs to be more variety, I think it will come with time as new items are added. Right now, I feel like most people end up looking very similar because everyone grabs the stuff with the most pocket space, which ends up being all the military/hunter stuff. So everyone ends up completely green, with maybe varying backpack colors or face masks but besides that they are nearly identical. The differences aren't pronounced enough to really tell people apart from a distance, and I even get confused with my friends. I'd say just give it time though, but I would recommend that there be more focus towards civilian looking clothing than military.

Advent1 126 Posted December 23, 2013 This is my "hero" costume. Honestly, even without the 4 or 6 slots for the shirt space, you don't even need it. It all depends on how you play. I see people's inventory all the time and they have like 10 mags and a shit ton of bullets which are not even needed. I carry one 60 round magazine and I've been in 3 firefights withing 10 minutes and I still had around 25 rounds to spare. At MOST I would carry 2 60 round magazines or 2 30 round magazine, anything more than that is a waste of space. Here is my current inventory and I've been surviving for 2 days without dying and havent come close to dying of thirst or hunger;

vile. 38 Posted December 23, 2013 where in the hell did you find that vest/? Apparently it can spawn in the shipwreck north of Berezino.
louist 163 Posted December 23, 2013 What would help is having a use for clothing beyond inventory, so that people can choose the best option based on circumstance and preference. Raincoats would play into that, once temperature and weather becomes a real concern. They have less slots, but would be vital in bad weather. Likewise the eventual addition of gillie suits could limit the clothing you could wear, so that you have a choose between maximum camouflage or maximum inventory. I'd rather see these trade-offs instead of the current system based solely off of inventory.

louist 163 Posted December 23, 2013 Keep in mind, Advent, that not everyone has been lucky enough to find 60 round mags. Those guys may just be carrying a handful of 15 round magazines :p
Mazzar 231 Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) Yeah, but, i need to be able to judge what type of threat the player is. So clothing is not just important to you, its important to me. Edit: Why does it say "watch out for that zombie" on that dudes screenshot?? ive never seen that before. Edited December 23, 2013 by Mazzar

SalamanderAnder (DayZ) 1747 Posted December 23, 2013 Eh, I need the tactical vest for carrying space. And I don't like to wear highly visible colors. Call me crazy, but that seems like a good way to get spotted.
louist 163 Posted December 23, 2013 I like the outfit!I'd love to see some urban camo added to the list.
beardedcap 22 Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) If you don't want to wear the military gear, don't wear it. A tac vest is going to hold more shit than just a flannel shirt, it's just a fact. Same with everything else. If you want to look a certain way just deal with the fact that you can't carry as much in certain items. I feel I have a decent amount of leverage in how I look while carrying a lot of stuff. But as we all know it's an alpha, and I'm sure(and I hope) that there will be much more civilian items added with carrying space. They should just go to REI(or similar outdoor gear store) for inspiration. Edited December 23, 2013 by beardedcap
louist 163 Posted December 23, 2013 Well, more variety across the board would be nice, civilian or no. As long as a variety of items have a use (beyond being a stepping stone to something better), I'll be happy.
