Gas Masks: What's the point?

So, I found a gasmask. Yay!

 

And I can wear it at the same time as my motorcycle helmet...?

 

Are the gas masks as useless (cosmetic) as the Payday masks?

Tear gas? I can see the pun in that name and all those various threads since the mod :D

 

Speaking of gas masks, kinda clipping. Would be nice if, eventually, meshes adapt to masks (if possible). Even if slightly. What else could work: Add other models (will probably happen anyway).

I believe they will protect against airbourne infections later in development. :)
