Make sh*t rare again!

Ok so... The amount of M4s on the map is ludicrous. There are more M4s than empty mags for them. 

But it's not just M4 spawnrate that's dumb - this also goes for the .45 pistol.

 

Tactical vests/helmets are sooo freaking common. Everyone looks like a Ranger from the Metro series! What's the point of having "high end military gear" so bloody common?

 

This is something that could be EASILY fixed by tweaking the spawnrate. Guns should be very rare. The melle weapons should be the focus of early and even mid game, not M4s and tactical armour.

 

What do I suggest?

Make gasmasks,ballistic helmets and tactical vest something to be incredibly rare and sough after - think cammo/ghillie clothing from DayZ mod. 

 

The M4 spawnrate should be SIGNIFICANTLY lowered and the chance of getting a "damaged" M4 should be much greater. 

 

I would also like to add that I think EMPTY STANAG/CMAG mags should be more common. Currently mags only spawn when they're full. Lame.

Right. Make everything super rare during the testing stage of the game. Sounds like a great plan to find bugs.

I agree. The spawn rates in towns etc. are all spot on and then you head to a military base and instantly find more loot than you know what to do with.

 

All it needs is for the devs to be made aware and the changes can be made.

What? Test whether all the items are working? That was probably done during the pre-public alpha test, one would think.

How about removing barracks and randomising loot spawns sorted.

 

I don't think anything that extreme is required, all military loot needs to have a lower drop rate is all. :)

Again, I don't know if you fully comprehend what alpha means... It's very hard to test hundreds of thousands of item combinations and so many possibilities with less than 60 pre-alpha testers. Getting loot into the world for players to test in the Alpha is imperative. Alpha. ALPHA. ALPHA.

theyre pretty rare to me, its just that people only loot military base right now...weapons are still pretty darn rare they just spawn at certain places and towns are useally gun less for me...i dont see the point of making m4's rare....theres barely any ammo for it anyway...

Dude, there are 3 firearms in game currently, and like 4 Melee weapons.

 

At this point, if you were to make what little is in the ALPHA already, spawn at a rarer rate - it would be more of a boring experience learning the game and testing it than we have currently. 

 

Just wait until the loot spawning system is properly done, then we can critique it; hell wait until we have more of a diverse arsenal. Get what I'm saying? Good.

So far I've literally seen more m4s than zombies :) But I think it's OK for Alpha as the m4 serves as a test bed for the modular attachment system.  It'd be hard to test and find bugs with attachments if they were super rare.
